The Motherhood Mirror
Mothers: the source of life, love and nurturing. The Motherhood Mirror symbolizes mothers as a reflection of those around them ā partners, family, community. Values, behaviours, and expectations are absorbed within themselves.
The Motherhood Mirror represents part of debās current artistic practice, encaustic painting/sculpture. deb merges photography, encaustics and mixed media to unique and highly tactile works. Viewers are encouraged to look into The Motherhood Mirror and to (gently) touch the wax while reflecting on their interpretation of the artwork.
deb gARTland is an award-winning photo encaustic (hot wax painting)/mixed media artist who lives and works in the Otway Ranges.
Medium: Encaustic wax and mixed media
Price: $2,100

Artwork: Navel Gazing
My figure represents a bent crone, weighed
down by life and the weight of bureaucracy we all
struggle with on a daily basis.
The figure is woven in a convoluted random weave structure, nothing straight or clear but following a circuitous and often illogical path.
She gazes at her own belly trying to make sense of the tangle that is her form.
This work was inspired by the frustration I felt at
the many hoops I have to jump through almost
daily to perform even the simplest of tasks, tasks
which used to take but a few minutes to organise
are now accompanied by a tangled mass of logic
defying red tape and paperwork.
Materials: rattan, rafia, twine
Price: $1500

āMerakiā
Throughout time, humankind has described its visceral connection to place via the Earth Mother.
In this work titled āMerakiā, Otway artist Kylie Pollock has used wire to articulate her presence. During its manufacture, wire is melted, cast, cooled,, rolled, stretched, and wound. These are some of the same intense forces in nature which formed and re-formed our earth. This work seeks to connect the viewer to the Earth Mother who implores us to care for this place.
āMerakiā = A Greek word describing the ability to wholeheartedly and lovingly imbue something with the essence of yourself.
Price: POA. #lornesculpturebiennale #sculpture #wireweaving
Mother Eagle & Earth Mother
Feature Artist Lynne Richardson
Mother Eagle & Earth Mother both represent creators of life, and the physical & spiritual connection between heaven and earth.
Earth mother is connected to the earth through the placenta- representing the tree of life. Planting a tree over the placenta is believed to connect the child and mother with the earth physically and spiritually. The tree then provides shelter for Mother eagle - a replenishing cycle of life.
Felling the tree destroys the connection to earth for the child and the habitat of the eagle.
What effect will disconnection to culture, spirituality and our environment have in an increasingly digital world?
Medium: Weaving
Price: POA

Yasmin ā Gift from God
by Sharryn Trease
Yasmin is inspired by the eucalypts growing on Lorne foreshore. My project is a comment on how beautiful, strong, and yet delicate our environment is - and how we so often ignore this in our quest to achieve āmoreā.
I am beautiful.
You do not see my beauty.
I am strong.
You try to bend me to your will.
I offer the means for your survival.
You profit from my gifts.
You do not understand me.
You think you are my master.
You cannot be.
Humanity requires I prevail.
Medium: Clay, recycled materials and found objects on a wire form
Price: POA
