Kreativna Ura: Dizajn s prirodom iz ciklusa Prostorne prakse ugostila je @effe.frida Federicu Zattu - talijansku arhitekticu, krajobraznu dizajnericu i istraživačicu sa sjedištem u Amsterdamu.
Federica je predstavila rad ureda @slodkaxzatta , koji djeluje između krajobraznog i urbanog dizajna te arhitekture, propitujući granice disciplina i njihove suvremene uloge.
Polazište njihova rada je ekoton - prijelazna zona između ekosustava, prostor u kojem se preispituju granice i otvaraju novi načini djelovanja. Naglasak je na procesima umjesto gotovih rješenja, pri čemu se arhitektura promatra kao dio šireg ekološkog sustava - kroz tokove resursa, krajolike i odnose koji oblikuju otpornija okruženja.
Održana je i radionica koja je kroz terenski rad i istraživanje lokacije Klaonice potaknula slojevito čitanje prostora — materijalno, društveno i ekološko — kao promjenjivog i živog sustava.
Program se realizira uz podršku Zaklade "Kultura nova" u suradnji sa @studiofabula .

U sklopu ciklusa, Federica Zatta održat će 6.5.2026. u 17:30 predavanje o radu ureda Słodka x Zatta @slodkaxzatta i arhitekturi kao dijelu šireg ekološkog sustava, a 7.5.2026. od 14 do 18 sati radionicu koja kroz rad na lokaciji i terensko istraživanje otvara prostor za čitanje materijalnih, društvenih i ekoloških slojeva prostora.
Our second guest in the Spatial Practices series is Federica Zatta — an Italian architect, landscape designer, and researcher based in Amsterdam, working at the intersection of landscape architecture, urban design, and architecture. Her work explores architecture as a relational field within broader ecological systems, focusing on processes, transitional conditions, and sustainable spatial strategies. Through the lecture and workshop, participants will engage in reading space as a layered and evolving assemblage, linking architectural interventions with natural and social processes.

Nakon prvog predavanja i radionice iz serije Prostorne prakse, u kojem smo ugostili njemačku kustosicu Teresu Fankhänel @teresafank , s veseljem najavljujemo drugi događaj u ciklusu ✨
Ovog puta gošća će nam biti Federica Zatta @effe.frida iz ureda @slodkaxzatta , a baviti ćemo se temom dizajna s prirodom unutar urbanih i post-industrijskih krajolika. Kako prirodni procesi mogu postati aktivni sudionici u oblikovanju prostora? Što znači projektirati s, a ne protiv okoliša? I gdje se susreću ekologija, arhitektura i društvo?
U ciklusu Prostorne prakse kroz predavanja i radionice istražujemo suvremene pristupe koji nadilaze klasične granice discipline — od regenerativnih praksi i održivog planiranja do eksperimentalnih prostornih intervencija.
Prostorne prakse i dalje ostaju prostor susreta, razmjene i zajedničkog učenja, u kojem publika aktivno sudjeluje u promišljanju i stvaranju novih prostornih scenarija.

Prva gošća ciklusa Prostorne prakse je Teresa Fankhänel @teresafank - kustosica u Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM). Prije dolaska u DAM, radila je kao kustosica i pomoćna kustosica u muzejima arhitekture i suvremene umjetnosti u Münchenu i Michiganu. Autorica je više izložbi te je od 2022. glavna urednica časopisa Architectural Exhibition Review.
U sklopu ciklusa Prostorne prakse Teresa će 01.04.2026. održati predavanje pod nazivom The Crow Problem. Or: What is a Good Exhibition? i radionicu pod naslovom Games for Curators koja će odvijati 2.4.2026. u prostorima Uranije od 14 do 18 sati.
Our first guest in the Spatial Practices series is Teresa Fankhänel, the curator at the German Architecture Museum. Before joining DAM, she worked as a curator and assistant curator at architecture and contemporary art museums in Munich and Michigan. She has curated several exhibitions and has been the editor-in-chief of Architectural Exhibition Review since 2022.
As part of the Spatial Practices series, Teresa will hold a lecture titled The Crow Problem. Or: What is a Good Exhibition? on April 1st, and a workshop titled Games for Curators which will be held on April 2nd from 14-18h in Urania.

Last year, together with @lucija_grofelnik and @_mirtaatrim_ we participated in a competition for the new Science Center in Čakovec. Our concept was based around the idea of flexibility both in terms of phasing and of use. Instead of developing one compact and complex building we opted for three interconnected volumes where each takes on several designated functions. This way each volume can function independently of the other two, providing its users with an array of options and possibilities for the spaces. We also focused on creating strong ties with the surrounding environment through designing a lush park around the building and assuring strong visual connections between interior ans exterior. Several weeks ago Studio Fabula founder Jana Čulek held a lecture @urania.hr in Zagreb titled “Spatial forms: Architecture as a question”. Through some recent projects and research she examined ways in which we can address the built environment through asking questions rather than providing set answers. Both the lecture and the discussion which followed focused on examining forms of spatial practice which allow for open-ended projects and processes, as well as the tools and methods necessary to address complex spatial issues in our environments. We hope that this conversation will continue and broaden the awareness for the need for critical and inquisitive spatial practices and projects! We recently participated in an urban planning competition together with @lucija_grofelnik to redesign the former iron foundry and machine factory in Osijek (HR), and we placed 6th for our Osijek Incubator proposal! The Osijek Incubator aims to reactivate the former Osijek Iron Foundry and Machine Factory
and return this vast area to be productively used by the citizens. Retaining its productive
function, this almost forgotten spaces is activated through several strategic and architectural
steps with the aim of forming a multifunctional, lively and active space within the heart of the
city of Osijek. The site is developed not only through a planned Sports incubator, but also by
adding to it various complementary programs such as multifunctional public spaces, a research
and entrepreneurial center, as well as numerous spaces aimed for both the neighboring university
as well as the residential area. Through programmatically and spatially merging the University,
sports, surrounding neighborhoods as well as diverse city functions, the space of the former

TIPPS for the redevelopment of Stara Vlaška street in Zagreb was awarded the 5th prize!
TIPPS is based on three types of modules differing in size and function. The largest module is
envisioned as a piece taken from a public park. It combines trees and low vegetation together
with small and relaxing areas for the public. The medium-sized module focuses predominantly
on the human users, providing functional public activities for different generations. The smallest
module is reserved for the non-human city-dwellers and consists of lush and dense vegetation
which is combined with small-scale architectural interventions which provide shelter, food and
water for animals and insects. The vegetation which is proposed for the area looks not only to
provide shade in summer months, but also acts as an air purifier, a water collector, a shelter for
small animals, a propulsor of biodiversity. Through combining various types and species of trees,
bushes, shrubs, and flowering plants, as well as various sorts of herbs, edible plants, and fruits,
the modular gardens become not only an aesthetic but also a functional and productive element
within the city.

TIPPS for the redevelopment of Stara Vlaška street in Zagreb was awarded the 5th prize!
The “Toolkit for Inclusive and Productive Public Spaces” (TIPPS) positions itself as a first step
towards a greener, healthier and more diverse future within our cities through a system of plug-in
modular elements which enrich public spaces on multiple scales. The Stara Vlaška street is seen
as a pilot site after which the system could be adapted and developed to be applied throughout
the city of Zagreb, as well as other locations. As an extension of the existing pedestrian zone,
and due to its proximity to one of Zagreb’s public parks – Ribnjak – the street can become the
testing ground for different methods of merging human, animal and plant life into sustainable
systems which will benefit all the city’s inhabitants for decades to come.

TIPPS for the redevelopment of Stara Vlaška street in Zagreb was awarded the 5th prize!
The project aims to solve the lack of greenery in Zagreb’s pedestrian zone reflecting also on the fact that the majority of the public space is often occupied with café terraces with little to no opportunities
for the non-paying users. The project proposes a systemic approach to creating green and
inclusive spaces through the city with the use of spatial modules in three different scales.
Working with the already modular and repetitive paving systems found across the city, especially
within the pedestrian zone of Zagreb’s center, the project proposes to simply replace small paved
areas by inserting the green and public modules. This eliminates the need for large construction
projects and allows a step-by-step approach to changing the ambient of the city center from that
of an endless paved café terrace to that of a multitude of green oases which allow plant, animal,
and human life to flourish.
