In January, I posted a series of TikToks detailing the thought process that led me to continuously source mermaid gowns despite the classic bridal refrain of “anything but a mermaid.” By December, the tides had turned and mermaids were my fastest growing shape. At the end of Q1, mermaids were outperforming both slip dresses and ballgowns in my studio. @puckdotnews released findings last week that searches for mermaid gowns were up 277%.
Thank you @ejrayder for seeing my little TikTok series and diving into this trend over the following months, and ultimately covering it for @voguemagazine . I’m so honored to be included with heavy hitters Kleinfeld and Harris Reid, as well as my friends @alishadatwani and @chelsea_eileen_jackson .
A dream come true! Thank you so much to @ejrayder for including Studio Dorothy in this piece for @voguemagazine . And as always, I’m so grateful to this job for introducing me to the coolest girls in NYC. @pattydiez and @lzznnn I’m looking at you!

One very special Studio Dorothy bride has some very small shoes to fill! This Spring 2004 Carolina Herrera gown sold too fast to take any pictures, but it was famously worn by Bride Barbie!

@amybethsol came to a fitting last month and snapped these film photos of the girly chaos. These shots feel exactly like my nana Dottie’s dress up closet, the original inspiration for Studio Dorothy.

For the Studio Dorothy Demi Custom collection in collaboration with London Musgrave, all models were New York-based visual artists.
Genevieve Goffman is a New York-based artist. Her practice combines historical research and speculative world-building to examine how history and memory are constructed, compressing time and geography through intricate architectural forms, anthropomorphic figures, and narrative dioramas.
Tatum Jade is a Brooklyn-based creative whose work focuses on human hair. By day she cuts and paints hair in a salon, and by night she creates art pieces braiding human hair into vintage materials.
Morgane Richer La Flèche is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley. She is inspired by her severe endometriosis, the theatrical arts, lyric poetry, French literature, her Catholic upbringing, body horror, and the Rococo period.
