For @gravityshowuk last year we decided to modify our daily run around @cupra_official Born. After a year of daily abuse we had a change of heart and set about modifying it like we would any other demo car. We had been testing a new brake system on the car in to see how upgraded brakes interact with the re-gen system and very eager emergency braking system. The brake kit integrated just fine and worked great, saved a bunch of weight, massively improved the pedal feel, we would be lying if we ever got to the limits of the performance but that wasn’t really the goal. We got a ton of help along the way and were rewarded with a @pvw_mag feature last month. Would we go so hard on an electric car again? No, but we did learn a lot about the weight, performance and latest safety and control; systems. We tried our best to improve it dynamically and visually but it never quite did it for us.
The idea for the shot was to take it to the iconic cooling towers in Ratcliffe-on-Soar just across the M1 from Donnington circuit. The plant closed in 2024 marking the end of coal power in the UK. We thought it was ironic and strangely symbolic place to shoot an electric car. Our wonderful friend Kane @studiodark_creative took the most awesome pictures.
