Kinemacolor was the earliest successful color film process. Invented by George Albert Smith in 1906, the process involved using alternating red and green filters to simulate natural color on screen. Much of Kinemacolor film has been lost to the past, but two of the films featured here, A Trip to the Seaside and Two Clowns, were made by Smith himself around 1906. #FilmSpeak #EarlyCinema #Kinemacolor #StudioBDC #FilmHistory

Did you know? The Wiz (Sidney Lumet, 1978) was filmed on site throughout New York City, using real locations like the World Trade Center plaza as Emerald City, Astor Place station, Coney Island, Yankee Stadium, and the Wards Island Bridge as the Yellow Brick Road! Because of this, the Wiz’s debut was hosted in NYC- the first film ever to do so.

Meander is a hybrid animation technique that lets artists draw directly onto 3D models, merging hand-drawn linework with computer-generated motion! Paperman (John Kahrs, 2012) uses it to bring a more natural, expressive quality to digital animation - reminiscent of more vintage animation styles.

Did you know Little Shop of Horrors (Frank Oz, 1986) was originally filmed with the same ending as the stage musical? It was changed after test audiences reacted poorly, giving the film its happier final scene, but many fans still prefer the original ending that later resurfaced in special releases.
