Over the past months, we’ve been working on a special project for Richard Mosse,
@richardmosse_
He commissioned a series of platinum-palladium prints, entirely handmade in his studio at the American Academy.
What made this work particularly challenging—beyond the use of one of the most stable and precious printing processes—was the scale of the prints: extremely large formats, unusual for this technique, which required rethinking every phase of production — from coating the paper to exposure and development.
This post documents parts of the process.
Producing platinum-palladium prints at this scale demands careful attention to consistency, timing, and material control. Each print results from a precise sequence of slow, deliberate actions, where there’s little room for improvisation.
We’re glad to share a behind-the-scenes look at a project that has been as demanding as it was stimulating, both technically and conceptually.
