Baking in 3D Modeling is the process of transferring high-resolution details like textures, lighting, and surface information from a high-poly model to a low-poly one, improving performance without losing visual quality for real-time rendering in games, VR, AR, and film. Cage in Baking : A cage is a slightly expanded low-poly mesh surrounding both models, guiding the baking rays to ensure accurate details transfer and preventing projection errors or missing geometry, especially in complex or tight areas. Why Use a Cage? • Ensures rays hit the correct high-poly surfaces • Prevents baking errors like ray penetration or missed details • Essential for scans, overlapping geometry, or intricate models If your model doesn’t require intricate detail transfer or you're using a simpler method, a cage may not be necessary. In Short : A cage improves accuracy, ensuring a cleaner, more reliable bake, especially for detailed or complex models. Great things are done by a series of small things brought together. Here’s a look Behind the Scenes of our creative journey with Flying Machine from the very first storyboard scribbles, to asset creation, to the raw energy of acting out scenes, and finally bringing it all to life through Viewport previews and the final render. This wasn’t just a project — it was a challenge that pushed us out of our comfort zones and into uncharted creative territory. And what came out of it? Something we're genuinely proud of. 🚀 A huge thank you to the incredible team at @flyingmachine80 , and especially @prxnjxlmittal for trusting us with this vision. Sharing our Key Learnings from the Faber-Castell Project……. • Trends and Location Insights We focused on current design trends and cultural localization to ensure the project resonated with Faber-Castell’s global audience. Balancing digital tools with traditional strengths helped us create a design that appealed to both modern and legacy customers. • Innovation Meets Tradition We faced the challenge of blending Faber-Castell’s rich heritage with innovative design elements, resulting in a product that honored the brand’s legacy while appealing to new and existing audiences. • Balancing Aesthetics with Functionality The project taught us how design should balance form and function. Every detail, from texture to color, was chosen to enhance both the product’s appearance and usability, ensuring a seamless user experience. • Personal Learning: Crafting the Story Storytelling was key. We looked beyond the product, focusing on the customer’s lifestyle and connection with the brand. By crafting a narrative around the product, we transformed it into a campaign that conveyed Faber-Castell’s core values of creativity, quality, and tradition. These learnings are not just valuable for this project, but can also be applied to any design or branding challenge. They provide a strong foundation for creating meaningful and impactful work.
