. Descent to Source . One of our deepest realisations when visiting the Stepwell was understanding it was never built to be admired. It was built to sustain & to serve. And yet, in its precision, its repetition, its devotion to function, it becomes something transcendent & beauty naturally reveals.

Always the question comes back to us. Traveling, for us, is a way of returning to our core values. Through different cultures we are reminded that architecture must belong to its place. Buildings speak a language with their environment; a dialogue that creates harmony when its codes are respected. Through materials. Through volume. Through form. There, is where inspiration lies for us it’s where architecture reveals itself… Wat Pra Lat | Chiang Mai | Thailand | 2025.

Our process is based in the understanding of architecture as an ecosystem an interconnected system of spatial, cultural, environmental, and material relationships. At the same time, we prioritize the optimization of on-site construction processes, seeking efficiency without compromising design integrity. Our approach is informed by cross-cultural learning, currently from Balinese architecture and its profound relationship with the natural environment. We consider not only climatic and material conditions, but also the intangible and energetic qualities of the land, integrating them thoughtfully into the spatial and architectural expression.

How can architecture be silence? When space does not impose. When light moves without spectacle. When materials speak softly. When proportion feels human. Silence in architecture is not the absence of sound but the absence of noise. STUDIO THŌ

During our travels through North Africa, we realized that true architecture speaks in silence, beyond form; a reminder of the greatness of life within. Médersa Ben Youssef, Marrakech, 2023

Design the way nature grows: repeat a simple rule, scale it with care, and allow time through use, weathering, and maintenance to complete the form. Beachhouse build | Yucatan Coast | 2023 Love, Studio THŌ

Architecture is not merely the production of built form; it is fundamentally concerned with the quality of experiences and the potential for inner transformation that occurs within space, in alignment with the intentions embedded in its design. This shala has hosted numerous profound practices and esteemed teachers, serving as a catalyst for heightened awareness in all those who have entered it. For us, this constitutes the most meaningful validation of our work: an architecture conceived not only as shelter or aesthetic object, but as a vehicle for human growth and a contribution to the broader well-being of humanity. Limestone, timber and silence. A monastic villa inspired by Miyama vernacular expressions with long, low roofs, heavy eaves, and rooms stripped back to only what is essential. Not a house to impress, but a sanctuary to experience nature from the center space.

Meet RICARDO Founder of Studio THŌ, Ricardo is an architect and creator devoted to the silent dialogue between space and soul. His work emerges where art, nature, and ancestral wisdom meet, revealing a quiet elegance that feels both ancient and entirely new. Guided by a sensibility rooted in depth, harmony, and intention, he shapes spaces with refined minimalism that honors vernacular craft, patina, and the poetry of imperfection. Every texture, volume, and proportion is considered not for ornament, but for presence. Through THŌ, Ricardo cultivates a philosophy of slow living, where architecture becomes a living, breathing experience, one that invites stillness, connection, and meaning. In the studio, this approach is known simply as: The Art of Living. Photo by @harleymaya_______

Photography, for us, is not about capturing what is seen, is more about revealing what we feel. A frame can shift a space from matter to memory, We seek the unseen…and the quiet soul behind form. Giza Plateau. 2024

True architecture is a living presence. In our design process the stupa reminds us that form is only the beginning; it is the relationship with light, breath, material and time that animates a space. Tara Stupa exists as a gesture of reverence and stillness.
