Currently in the middle of picking work for my new website (coming soon ๐Ÿ‘€). While going through my projects I realized I never actually shared the full campaign I created for the 25th anniversary of 013. The design ended up on flags, a massive window sticker, merch, and all the visuals during the big celebration party. Still one of those projects Iโ€™m still proud of. Looking for a bold, stand-out full branding project? Hit me up! ๐Ÿ“ฉ ๐Ÿ“ธ @willemvsbreugel

In general, I love using color in my designs. My personal music taste is broad, but I definitely lean toward heavy music. Thatโ€™s why I enjoyed creating posters for these bands even more. A little less colorful than the designs youโ€™re used to from me but here's a taste of some darker artwork I've done. I actually completely forgot to share the first poster I made for Radeloos///Ziedend + Lijkschouwer. I often incorporate my own photos into my work. In this case, I found a photo I took years ago in a wintery forest in the Ardennes. I printed it on thicker paper and started scratching on the back of the print with a blunt drawing pencil like a maniac. A direct reference to despair and rage (radeloos///ziedend). I try to capture the atmosphere of the music in visuals that emerge through an intuitive and direct creative process Feel free to reach out for both colorful and less colorful artwork. Iโ€™m always open to new collaborations!

Sometimes you find your destination by getting lost. Studio Straycat wasnโ€™t a straight path, it twisted and turned. I started in spatial design, but that didnโ€™t feel right. A teacher later reignited my love for making, leading me to art school. In the middle of my first year, my mom passed away from cancer. It hit me hard, and I struggled a lot with depression during my studies and even now at times. Music has been a constant in my life since I was a kid, from punk to metal and other alternative sounds. That love for music has always been a guiding thread, shaping the way I approach creativity. A gap year in New Zealand made me question if creativity was still for me. Turns out, it was just not in the way I expected. After finishing my bachelor degree in Den Bosch, I worked restoring vintage furniture for five years before realizing I wanted to combine music and art: posters, album covers, merch. Learning Adobe was a battle. I borrowed money for a laptop, was an intern next to my job for three years, and slowly figured it out. Technically, I may still not be the best, but I love combining analogue and digital methods. Using Adobe as a tool, not as a goal on its own. Starting small with logos and fictional band posters, my first real poster was for Courtney Barnett in Doornroosje. Then more gigs followed, and I began sending work to venues across the Netherlands and Belgium. Working on commission gave me the structure and freedom I needed. Despite all the doubts and mental struggles, I found my groove. A clichรฉ that proved true in my experience: stay true to yourself and go all the way! Proud to share my new website: studiostraycat.nl Big thanks to @jipasveld.digitaldesign for helping out!

Had a blast making another fictional gig poster, this time for the made-up band '๐šƒ๐š‘๐šŽ ๐™ท๐šž๐š›๐š๐š•๐šŽ๐šœ', playing at the imaginary venue ๐™ฝ๐š˜๐šก๐š‘๐šŠ๐šŸ๐š— in ๐™ฒ๐š˜๐š™๐šŽ๐š—๐š‘๐šŠ๐š๐šŽ๐š—. #graphicdesigner #gigposterart #posterdesigner #posterart #bandposter #alternativemusic #postpunkposters #posterdesign #illustration #mixedmedia #altrockaesthetic #punkaesthetic

Just wrapped up another poster for Omar Souleyman's show in Berlin this fall. Slightly outside of what I usually create. The assignment was to design a clear, focused visual for a specific audience, with the Syrian flag as a key element. In the end, the second concept was selected. Personally, I had a soft spot for the first one, but thatโ€™s part of the creative process. Not every favorite makes the final cut. Curious to hear which one youโ€™d choose.
