Great things are happening at the first of the three #happyvalleytrio homes! Built back in the 70s, this home is just over 2,000 sq ft, but it’s got six levels! It’s like a split level on steroids. This home was definitely ready for a makeover, and the upper level was completely redesigned to create a beautiful primary bedroom suite with views of the treed canopy. The next home is up the hill (second to last photo), and construction is scheduled to start at the end of the year. Finally, the meadow barn (in the last photo) will be completely modernized while keeping its rustic charm. Builders: @interworksportland

This past week, the fourth home I’ve designed for clients as a rental property went live on Airbnb. Projects like these reflect something I care deeply about in residential design: a home can be beautiful, welcoming, and memorable to stay in while also supporting a client’s bigger goals over time. I’m always thinking about how a home will live now, and how it can continue to work in the future, whether that means flexibility, long-term value, or income potential. Good design is never just about how a space looks. It’s about creating places that feel grounded, function well, and offer more than one way to support the people who own them. That kind of long-view thinking is a meaningful part of my work. #rallymade #ResidentialArchitecture #PortlandArchitect #ModernHomes #FutureReadyHomes

This is one of those happy stories, where instead of a project requiring complicated structural reworking to succeed, clever planning eked out just enough space to expand this powder room into a full bathroom. With the layout set, now we’re diving into how this space can visually reconnect with its 1920’s early California Tudor Revival aesthetic. Starting with the general elements that define this style, including highly patterned floors, tile walls defined by architectural ceramic trim and warm wood cabinetry - we’re understanding the rules to create a contemporary look not driven by trends. Familiar materials and elements paired in a fresh way, honoring the vintage character of the home while creating a space reflective of the client’s personality. Excited to see this one evolve!

The number one reason people renovate? They’ve fallen out of love with their home. One of my favorite parts of leading studio RALLYMADE is helping clients rekindle that spark—making the familiar feel fresh again and uncovering possibility that’s been hiding in plain sight. Take the #westlinnreno. This homeowner decided to begin a new chapter by rethinking an underwhelming entry that felt dark, low, and forgettable. By introducing an 8’ custom double Dutch door handcrafted by @realcraftusa and a moody new paint palette, the house finally learned how to say: welcome in. Funny thing—by the time the construction dust settled, she had also met the love of her life. 💖 Sometimes a new chapter really does start at the front door. #pacificnorthwesthomes #homerenovation #craftmanship #westlinnhomes

Today marks a significant milestone at #marthamidmod as we've submitted all permit drawings to the City of Portland. Construction is set to begin this spring and wrap up by fall. This project is a true reflection of what RALLYMADE does best - a transformational mid-century modern renovation that combines architectural, interior design, and a passion for restoring iconic homes. #architecturelovers #midcenturymodern #homedesign #modernliving #portlanddesign

** Design is better when we build it together. ** As I wrap up 2025, I’ve been thinking about why I named my studio RALLYMADE in the first place. Good design doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when clients, builders, makers, consultants, and designers all show up, ask good questions, and rally around a shared vision. This year was full of that. I’m deeply grateful to the clients who trusted the process—even when it felt uncertain—and to the collaborators who brought care, craft, and curiosity to every project along the way. Truly, it takes a village. Looking ahead to 2026, I’m excited to keep building within our local creative community and to keep learning, sharing, and designing homes that support people for the long haul—homes that can evolve with them over time. Thankful for the people and projects that shaped this year. Looking ahead to what’s next.

This is what it looks like to curate well-being—intentionally. Yesterday, I visited NW Immersion’s @nwimmersionco warehouse and showroom to experience their sauna and cold plunge systems in person. This is part of my process—because I don’t recommend products I haven’t deeply researched, vetted, and experienced myself. As always, I source only the highest-quality materials and products for Age Well Home & Lifestyle & Redefining Home. Saunas and cold plunges aren’t trends—they are powerful tools for nervous system regulation, recovery, longevity, and daily well-being when thoughtfully integrated into the home. But this goes far beyond a single product. For over 25 years, I’ve been curating what people need to live their best lives—starting with lifestyle and progressing to their homes: • movement + gym spaces • meditation + calm rooms • dance + flow studios • healthy, toxin-aware kitchens • spa-like bathrooms • recovery + restoration zones I don’t just design spaces. I curate the entire well-being ecosystem—home and lifestyle—so the way you want to live is actually supported every day. This is what it means to “Redefine Home” and exactly why Jen @studio_rallymade & I have partnered to consciously curate home plans & design kits with well-being built-in from the start. To age well is to live well. And to live well is to live as your true self. If you’re ready to design a home and spaces that support your well-being—beautifully and intentionally—I’d love to help. Turning our attention to the living room at #marthamidmod. There was a boxy closet that was the first thing you saw when you entered this sweet home. Rehousing the coat closet to a modern curved wood extension of the fireplace made for an incredible transformation. We can’t wait to see it completed! Layering in quality finishes like veined travertine, natural alder wood and wool carpets ensures that the home feels timeless and true to the soul of a 1950’s home. This phase is where ideas take shape, and clients start to feel what their future home can be. More updates soon as we refine the details. 🤍 #rallymade #modernnorthwest #designprocess #homedesign #portland #architecture #bedrosianstile #benjaminmoore #nordicknots

Today, as Jen @studio_rallymade and I curated flooring and continued to built our five Redefining Home design palettes — from the lightest, airy tones to deep, grounding hues — we were reminded why this work matters so much. Your home should evolve with you. Your home should support your true self. Your home should help you become who you’re meant to be. We don’t design from “what’s trending.” We curate from what’s transformational: ✨ Universal Design — beauty that supports every body, in every season ✨ Healthy, non-toxic materials — honoring your biology and innate well-being ✨ Sustainability — because we are nature too ✨ Neuroaesthetics — colors and textures chosen for their subconscious impact on how you feel Light tones invite clarity. Mid-tones invite balance. Deep tones invite grounded confidence. This is why Redefining Home exists: To create lifestyle homes—homes that help you live in alignment with the truest version of yourself. Get ready for something the home industry has never seen. Renovations always start with listening — to the home, the client, and the way they want to live. Here’s a quick look at how the #marthamidmod kitchen is evolving. 1️⃣ The existing space: generous light, but ready for a new chapter. 2️⃣ The massing model: understanding form, sightlines, and function. 3️⃣ The material direction we selected together last week — clear alder, warm quartz, and timeless Scandinavian-inspired accents. This phase is where ideas take shape, and clients start to feel what their future home can be. More updates soon as we refine the details. 🤍 #rallymade #modernnorthwest #kitchenrenovation #designprocess #homedesign #portland #architecture

So excited to see the progress on this whole house renovation. Other than the split level living room, the original rooms had ceilings a touch over 7’-0”! The structural magic devised to add much needed head room and natural light is the true hero of this renovation! #homedesign #moderndesign #pacificnorthwest #architecture #rallymade
