I couldn’t look into the sun, acrylic on canvas. 🌸🌜🌱🐛🌷🌞🐞🌀✨🪻🪲🦋 This piece takes its title from a Sade lyric, from the song ‘Like a tattoo’. I know it looks quite vibrant and whimsical, but theres a lot of different feelings in this painting for me: denial, rejection, growth on your own terms, and resilience. In the piece, a girl, a flower, is blooming in the middle of the night, under the soft light of the moon rather than during the day under the sun’s rays, as most flowers typically do. You could interpret this in alignment with Sade’s song lyric: she can’t look into the sun/she is failing to look at a painful truth [denial]. Or she did not feel welcome to blossom, to be her authentic self in the light of day [rejection]. You could also interpret it more positively: she knew what was best for her own growth, though it’s not typical [growth on your own terms]. Or even that, despite needing sunlight, she still found a way to blossom under the moon [resilience]. The different interpretations represent the complicated wavering between positive and negative feelings during the ending of a relationship and a period of self-reflection. #acrylic #sade #canvas #flower #moon

As EmpowerHER 26 comes to a close, I’m looking thru pictures of the exhibition with a big smile. I feel so lucky to have had my work chosen and to have been amongst such amazing women artists - it was an honour to have my work alongside theirs. As beautiful and inspiring as the exhibition was, it was more than just that: it was a community. Being able to connect with the fellow artists and visitors of the exhibition has been my favourite part, hearing what inspired their pieces, learning their stories and their future aspirations. I’ve had conversations that truly warmed my heart and had me blinking back tears. Just feel so grateful to have met such incredible people, and I’m excited to see their journeys unfold.🌷 Thanks to everyone who has supported and encouraged me and said kind things about my work. and a huge thank you to Sukai and @casildart_contemporary for curating a safe space for women artists to be themselves, to share their perspectives, to represent the diversity of womanhood. It was truly empowering to be a part of. 💖 Looking forward to next year’s EmpowerHER and seeing what everyone gets up to in the meantime 🌞

Tomorrow!! 🌀 As someone who loves going to galleries myself, I’m always curious to hear more about the artist, their process, the reasoning behind the piece, why they chose the colours/medium/composition they did, etc. Whilst you may enjoy the look of a piece very much, there is something so fascinating and intimate about uncovering the story and the person behind it - finding out more than you would be able to infer from a glance. I think that can make you appreciate the piece more. Tomorrow, you have a chance to ask the artists of EmpowerHER26 questions about their pieces in the exhibition and I’m personally so excited to hear more. Hope you can join for what I’m sure will be a lovely afternoon full of great conversation 🌷🌷🌷 📍CasildART Contemporary, 32 Connaught Street, W2 2AF ⏰ Saturday 11th April, 1:30 - 4pm Find tickets in @casildart_contemporary bio 💖

I’m soooo proud, happy and honoured to say that two pieces of my work have been chosen for CasildART’s upcoming exhibition ‘EmpowerHER2026’, running from 31st March to 2nd May 🌞🌀✨🌷 Limited edition prints of each of my pieces will be available for sale. @casildart_contemporary is proud to present EmpowerHER ‘26, an art fair that celebrates the creativity, courage, and vision of emerging and mid-career women artists. Opening on 31 March 2026, the exhibition features a diverse selection of contemporary works that explore women’s experiences, stories, and perspectives. Now in its third edition, CasildART continues to provide a platform for artists whose voices have historically been underrepresented in the art world. This year, the recurring theme of the fair, “Creativity, Courage, and Magical Thinking,” invites visitors to experience a rich tapestry of ideas, mediums, and narratives that challenge, delight, and provoke reflection.

sunshine patty in Peckham, acrylic on paper. 🌞☁️🌽🌱🥕🥦✨ this piece is a ‘work in progress’ that I never finished. I wanted to add more details in the clothing and the shop window, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it for some reason. then, the more I looked at it, the more I felt that the main story and feeling of the moment was captured so those details didn’t feel important enough to finish. I made this piece after a really normal but weirdly poignant moment - I was walking down Peckham high street and it was one of those days where the sky was completely white and drizzling. I was feeling a bit low and was really hungry. I was walking past a food hall, and an auntie was sat in the window. She had a really kind face and knowingly smiled and beckoned me inside. She told me I looked like I needed something to eat. I ordered a veggie patty and, glowing and golden yellow, it felt like a sunbeam in my hands. I’d been walking round by myself all day and this brief moment felt like a connection to both community and Caribbean heritage that I hadn’t realised I really needed. #acrylic #caribbean #patty #peckham #art

Pomelo and the sunbird, acrylic on paper 🍊🐦‍⬛ this piece is inspired by a story I heard a few months ago, spoken by a small Palestinian boy who lay trembling on a hospital bed, wrapped in bandages, his skin red and raw. he spoke to a nurse about the last things he saw before a missile hit, martyred his father and covered his small body head-to-toe in burns: that morning, his father had fed pomelo to a little yellow bird, despite being starving himself. the nurse asks the boy to recall the colour of the bird to distract him from his pain as they treated his wounds. the boy was no older than 6. it’s a simple story but it stayed with me all this time because it demonstrates the care Palestinians have for the animals and the land they love. it made me think of all the small and mundane moments of peace that have been interrupted by acts of outrageous and intentional violence. it is one story of literally thousands, and some of those we will never know because everyone who witnessed them has perished. many, in the most awful and inhumane ways imaginable. the scale of this grief is colossal. this painting captures a moment of normalcy, kindness, and family in Palestine for the Palestinian people. it represents a peace and belongingness and kinship with the land they live in. it represents a sliver of the grief and loss and mourning that Palestine is suffering. most importantly, it represents all the small, mundane and peaceful moments that Palestinians will one day experience again in the safety and harmony of their homeland ❤️

how people treat you is no reflection of your worth 🌞🌎✨🪐🌟🩵☁️🌜 a quick piece I did last night, inspired by the quote/idea above. I rly did not feel like getting all my paints out and I have been struggling recently with starting and not finishing pieces so I did something small using pens that only took a few hours. - felt tips and biro on watercolour paper #felttips #pens #art #watercolour #quotes

my last piece of 2024 and ofc it’s a painting of sza 🪲💖 it’s been a year of creative block for me tbh lol but there is something about sza’s music that always makes me feel inspired again. when I was listening to this song, the idea of something kinda dreamy and ethereal came into my mind and ofc I had to stay on brand with the new album and include some bugs 🐛🐞🐜🌷 to more creativity in 2025 (I hope xx) - watercolour and acrylic on paper #sza #lana #sosdeluxe #watercolour #acrylic

Return to the land of oranges, acrylic on watercolour paper. 🍊🌳🌱 For Palestinians, the orange has long been a symbol of deep connection to their ancestral homeland. It represents a happy existence before occupation, a reminder of the loss and suffering they have endured, and an optimism that they will once again live contently atop the soil where the orange groves blossom.
