I’m very excited to unveil Breathing Room, a tactile, immersive fiber installation as part of the
@resound_newyork exhibition at
@rockefellercenter ! Come by, have a seat, and stare into the void starting on October 1, 2025!
My largest work to date, this installation continues my engagement with wool fiber both as a sculptural medium and as a conduit for thinking through ideas of interiority, cultivation, and artifice.
Set within a mirrored infinity room, the undulating wool landscape operates spatially and perceptually, extending out into an illusory expanse, collapsing distinctions between inside and outside, object and environment, furniture and terrain.
The topography evoked by the tufted surface suggests an organic inevitability, echoing growth patterns of moss that over time has concealed stones, roots, fallen branches, yet they are the result of deliberate and meticulous shaping and construction, drawing parallels to a horticultural logic that insists on forms that appear natural yet are highly mediated by human intervention.
Many thanks to the many people at
@dstrictholdings for supporting this immense project and for letting my imagination run wild, the
@hero__nyc team, and to the folks at
@thirdkindstudio for a fab job fabricating the plywood substructure!
