Drum roll... the final three handmade copies of 'Cölsk' - are off out into the big wide world this week. And to mark the occasion - a painting inspired by the book's cover. There are so many to choose from (2nd pic) but I'm a bit partial to the 'is it blue, is it green' versions.
We started making the books back in October, 100 have been made - beautifully hand sewn by Sylvie, printed, stencilled, cölsked and pressed by myself. A big thank you to everyone that bought a copy and for all the incredible feedback. Thank you Kev and Federico for all your help too !
What next for 'Cölsk' ? There is news - later this year it will be published by Sealed Records. So... watch this space !

Print room printing print offs. Putting Cölsk (the book) together has got me happily back into stencilling and printing, the four print offs here are a mixture of the two. Printed on paper, next I'll see how it works on canvas.

Around Brighton in the next few weeks ? Cats of Hanover have organised an excellent exhibition/crafting and workshops at The Dover Castle pub, 43, Southover Street, BN2 - 16th May to 8th June, all in aid of RSPCA Brighton. I have a mounted lino print up for sale 'Kitty Kitty' - no. 1 of 1.
Self portraits ? I've dabbled. Here are nine, each one quite different from the other as I experimented and worked through different various styles. Hard to say which one is my favourite, I guess pic 1 - I like the way the red bleeds through and the clobber. It was inspired by the 1981 Chalk Farm Road studio photo. Pics 3 and 5 in the workshop. Pics 4 and 7 the spiderleg hair. Pic 8 - a different idea of what a portrait can be. And back to Pic 4 - first portrait using a palette knife.

April 2026 : The iconic jacket in most of the recent Eps & Flux photos I've posted. The current custodian sent me the photos to show how it looks now. Alot of the artwork has faded away but you can still see the 'Reaper of Death' stencil, in red - 'Flux' just visible at the bottom on the back and to the right a 'Fight War Not Wars' Crass badge.
Bones from Hotalacio had the jacket for a few years and replaced the disintegrating red lining with a new lining made from an old shirt. I thinks that's his doodling to the left of the Reaper stencil.
Age ? It was pretty rough when I got it back in 1979 so definitely sixty years plus !
It's only taken forty years, finally got my own vinyl copy of Uncarved Block. A lovely guy over in the US @andy_cimex696 , bought a copy of Cölsk, heard I didn't have a copy of the album, tracked down and ordered a mint copy for sale in Italy and had it sent to me. Bloody lovely people out there !!
I don't think the record has ever been played, original cover sticker still in place, inside cover looks like it's never seen the light of day.
The album was a Flux/On-U Sound collaboration recorded at Berry Street Studios EC1, January to April '86, released in July '86.
At the time we all lived together so never had our own copies of releases.
Thank you so much Andy 😊
