The Ziro festival tested our strength, but the show's energy kept us going. Not everything was perfect, but the small victories were huge. During a thunderstorm, a crew's quick action to dry up the lights was a powerful reminder of resilience.
We worked together through the mud, unpredictable weather, solving every problem as a team.
We were pushed beyond our limits and became better and stronger because of it. We are grateful to the stage crew and technicians for their hard work, and for that moment of sheer determination that kept the show alive.
Thank you !

The Ziro Music Festival is unlike any other. It’s an immersion into a unique culture, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Arunachal Pradesh's lush rice fields and mist-covered mountains. For a lighting designer, this picturesque setting was both a canvas and a challenge—a beautiful, but demanding, rite of passage.
This being our first time, we arrived full of a certain kind of professional confidence, ready to transform the stages into visual spectacles. But Ziro has its own timetable, and our preconceived notions were quickly humbled by the realities of the valley. Every piece of infrastructure, including the two main stages, was painstakingly handcrafted from locally sourced bamboo and wood by the Apatani artisans. While a testament to the festival's sustainable ethos, this meant our technical plans had to adapt to natural, imperfect structures that bent and swayed with the wind. The weather was an even more unpredictable foe. One moment, the brilliant sunlight would highlight the natural beauty; the next, a fog would roll in, obscuring our carefully planned light beams and demanding on-the-fly adjustments. My team and I quickly learned that at Ziro, you don't control nature; you collaborate with it.
By the end of the festival, the exhaustion was profound, but so was the pride. The constraints of Ziro didn’t diminish our creative output; they defined it. We had embraced the valley’s rugged, organic character, allowing our lighting to not just illuminate, but to harmonize with the stages built of bamboo, the misty fields, and the incredible music. This wasn't just a project; it was a testament to what is possible when sheer determination meets a love for the craft. The Ziro experience taught us that the most beautiful lighting isn't about the perfect setup—it’s about the spirit you pour into it, even when everything is conspiring against you.
