‘Untitled (Shoe, sidelined)’, 2026

Scene XVI: Dean Fox, Keeping the Books on the Shelf
Super excited to open Dean’s second solo presentation with @matt_careywilliams next week. Across two spaces in Connaught Village, we see the possibilities of his painting expand, his painterly collaboration with early 20th Century painting evolve, and the multifaceted nature of his mark become more complex.
Building on personal and spiritual ideals, these works let us unravel what we think we see.

We kick off 2026 at my space on Porchester Place next Tuesday at 10am by continuing to display our fourteenth Scene: a presentation of new work by the brilliant Nada Elkalaawy called ‘A Stir of Echoes’. These are paintings that shimmer with both the poignancy of the past and the potential of the future, unveiling an entanglement of experience and emotion that loops and leaps between moments personal, shared and the echo chamber of their synergy. Nada’s painted surface is unsettled to such an extent that her paintings evince a deeper sense of space so that these inventions float into our consciousness and, just for a moment, bewitch us like beloved memories. Truly, these are paintings as poesy. If you haven’t had a chance to see these wonderful works then you have until Friday 16 January to do so. And, just to give Nada and her show a dollop of extra love, we’ll be open on Saturday 10 January between 12 and 5pm where Eilidh, Danele and I invite you to come and have a look at the work whilst ruining your Dry January with a splash of wine and a nibble of cheese. Come see. #artinlondon #contemporarypainting #nadaelkalaawy #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist
Opening this Thursday✨✨ Scene XIV: Nada Elkalaawy, A Stir of Echoes @matt_careywilliams@nadaelkalaawy
A beautiful final show of 2025 at MCW - Nada’s paintings are at once tense and transient. We see wilting flowers, porcelain figurines and gleaming silverware become the protagonists through which she explores memory, meaning, tradition and truth.
