Preliminary sketch for an idea exploring identity, culture & the limbo diaspora people find themselves in. Using the crosshatch is intentional. Taking me way way back to 2007 when I took a sharpie to erase the subject because I wanted the focus to be on the background… I’m now applying that intentional erasure to the subject again to draw focus to cultural identifiers. For now though, I’ve put on my graphic design hat and am working on getting stuff ready to launch my website. Definitely out of my comfort zone as I’m not a web designer. • • • #sketchbook #identity #wip #womenartists gallery

“Beam in yellow.” 2025. Oil, acrylic, gold leaf on padded canvas. The first time I ever used oil paints. Cleaned up & digitised. Part of a limited edition print run. Watch this space for website launch. #gallery #portrait #oilpainting #wipart #womanartist

One of the stages of art prints that no one ever thinks about… digitising an original piece whilst trying to maintain its integrity. This piece is originally in oil paints and it seems that under the lighting of the camera, all the tiny gold leaf flecks which are embedded are highly visible. This is after colour correcting the image so that the colours match the original, easier said than done! • • • #postproduction #colorcorrection #digitised #oilpainting #photoshopediting

Our exhibition, ‘CYCLES: Passage of Time’, will be taking place 26 - 31 March 2026 at Espacio Gallery. We will be holding a number of events throughout the week: Free Private View, After Hours DJ Set, Spoken Word Evening & Virtual Silent Auction! Find out more through the links in our bio. The exhibition will showcase works by 31 emerging artists, where the art reflects on the seasons we move through, our surroundings that shape us, the changes we endure and the people we evolve into. Our partner for this exhibition is the Cotton Tree Trust, a North London charity bringing hope to refugees and asylum seekers. All donations and profits will help the The Cotton Tree Trust with their goals, including providing refugees and asylum seekers with legal support, financial advice, mela vouchers, Wi-Fi, help with housing, in addition to therapy and well-being workshops. Join us in using art for social impact, hope to see you there! Sketching out the painting that the last one should have been. I’m going to make another one and see how I feel about them both before putting brush to canvas. It’s a good sign that I’m feeling excited about starting this, instead of trepidation like the last one. Goes to show how you should learn to listen to your gut when it comes to creativity. If you don’t believe in you what you’re doing, that will definitely come across in the work. #artwork #sketch #artistsketch #sketchbook #skatergirl

Here’s to the not always… Sometimes, for whatever reason, it just doesn’t work, or feel right. Leaving this piece unfinished. It’s currently hung in my hallway, above the stairwell as a reminder to give myself grace. The ending isn’t always neat and tidy… sometimes it’s just incomplete, but just embrace the discomfort instead of turning from it. #art #unfinished #accept #colorful #pattern

My own worst enemy… Getting traction on my next project “Board Girls’ Collective” has taken a lot longer than usual. From a combination of broken routine since end of June, to being on a spree of ordering the wrong materials repeatedly, having a bit of burnout, I’ve felt my momentum has completely derailed. The journey to really develop my style is something that quite literally keeps me up at night and destroys my sleep as I’ll lie awake ruminating on creatively problem solving this thorn in my side. But mostly, I’ve felt the weight of self expectation, and it’s a a weight that isn’t easy to bear. I was really proud of my last large format piece and the various successes this piece gained me… but in my head I’m fighting against myself and wondering if I can live up to myself? Can I do better? How do I do better when I’m gripped by doubt? I’m taking a look at my old fashion illustrations to see if the answer lies within. Anyways, here’s the draft of the piece, playing with colour, and view-finding the right crop and placement. I’ll write more about what this piece is about once I get over myself. • • • #gallery #portrait #oilpainting #wipart #wip #womanartist #oiloncanvas #sketch #women #btsart #skateboarding #girlswhoshred #girlswhoskateboard

Showing some face, breaking up the grid. It’s been a while since I’ve posted a face shot. As always, I prefer to keep my face out of it, even those pesky reels. But anyways, connecting here with those who kindly are following me on my creative journey (and the weirdness). So here are some facts about me: 1. This pic is day 2 of my caffeine free life. Day one is something we won’t talk about. I am in mourning over my daily coffee ritual and right now, decaf isn’t cutting it but whatever, I’ll get used to it. 2. Korean food is my favourite, specifically, soondubu chigae, and yes, the raw egg is a must. 3. I love the sea, I don’t love being in it, unless the water is hitting +29°c, clear as crystal (so easy to please!)… anyone want to take me to Pink Beach on Komodo?? 4. Bread, milk, potatoes, tea, butter; these things are only in my house because I don’t live alone. 5. I’ve lived on three continents. These have involved extreme character forming experiences. That’s it for now! • • • #profile #me #artist #artistofinstagram #selfiewanker #womenartists

Arts & Crafts Hiding from the heat with my skateboarding obsessed 4 year old. We made some paper skateboards. He seemed to enjoy this and has claimed my design, so I think he likes it! Tomorrow whilst we try to avoid being baked in the ongoing heat, the challenge will be to make one that has moving wheels. • • • #decks #skaterstyle #skateboard #skateboardart #artsandcrafts

Patterns of course. Back from a family trip away and now in a weird limbo before going away again in a couple of weeks, so doing small things before working on the next larger format piece. • • • #gallery #portrait #oilpainting #wipart #wip #womanartist #oiloncanvas #women
