Q u i l t e d E a r r i n g s . . . Commissioned by a special client a while ago I have not had the opportunity to make another pair of these fine little hydraulic formed quilted earring studs. . . . Oxidised in copper with an engraved sterling silver backing, custom made butterfly clip and a fine sliver of American Walnut- these little pillows with whisks of horse hair sit quiet nicely below the earlobe. . . . Finally this pair will go to another special client in Shanghai. .

Anke Kindle is a contemporary jeweller and designer interested in the meaning of objects. Through @studio_blau , she designs and makes jewellery and objects in her Melbourne workshop. Using the ancient craft tradition of brush binding, Anke creates wearable objects that explore the value of labour and the politics of inanimate objects, especially in relation to the feminine and the domestic realms. A Fresh! finalist in 2020, Anke has since exhibited with Craft in the Members Vitrine Gallery and several main gallery exhibitions, and has been a long-time stockist in the Maker Showcase. The M A K E A w a r d: Biennale Prize for Innovation in Australian Craft & Design is a national award celebrating innovation in contemporary craft & design. . An initiative of the Australian Design Centre, the MAKE Award is the richest non- acquisitive prize for Craft & Design in Australia. . Open to designer makers working across ceramics, glass, furniture, woodwork, metalwork, textiles and fibre and contemporary jewellery from 197 entries the 36 finalists demonstrate that diversity of practice and high level of skill and innovation. . The MAKE Award is now on at the Australian Design Centre Darlinghurst and runs through to the 19 th of November 2025 . before travelling to the JamFactory (South Australia) on from the 5th of December 2025 - 12th of April 2026. . The Streetsweepers necklace was the first design in the Streetsweepers Series-a collection of brush pieces that took the humble and often unseen process of street sweeping as a starting point to develop works that investigated the machines, process and people who conduct the work of street sweeping. Reframing the process as an important and celebratory act of care for the environment, each other and the planet we inhabit. .
