Today was a day-long experiment. Youth from Provincetown, MA and Newtok, AK brought images and words that they’ve been developing all year as they explore identity, place, and climate change. They printed their own double negatives as cyanotypes on glass, and then, through @thebeautifulstuffproject , I taught them the basics of stained glass and helped them turn their prints into compositions that will be displayed in both communities. I wish we’d had twice the time, but we made a solid start!

A superstar team helped me and @chromatilebyceciliakremer install a collaborative mosaic at @2lifecommunities today! The pieces were made a few years ago with 2life residents, using pieces of ceramic salvaged from the mosaic by Lilli Ann Rosenberg that stood in Newton Centre for decades, and objects gathered by residents, including keys, buttons, beads and tiles. This is the third Lilli Ann-inspired mosaic that Cecilia and I have had the pleasure of building for 2Life and we’re so excited to have it on the wall!

After years of debate over whether the Winter Hill School would be repaired, rebuilt in place, or moved, there’s finally a plan. And in the meantime, the school community will be using the old Edgerly School while construction happens. The Mae’s Garden mosaics have been moved over to the library of the new/temporary space until they can be displayed in a new Mae’s Garden. I’m glad the community can have them close by again.
