arch. is the sound collective and creative studio behind the sonification for Visceral Superhelix, an audio-visual installation exploring the acoustic properties of collagen proteins. As a studio specializing in spatial audio and sound design, arch. captures the harmonic signatures of plucked gut strings to sonify collagen’s triple-helix molecular structure, revealing acoustic patterns embedded within the protein’s hierarchical organization.
The accompanying 60-minute soundscape, composed by Andreas Allen, unfolds over a sustained low D drone, with harmonics and layered sonic textures emerging organically to create a sculptural sound environment. Each pluck of the monochord triggers real-time modulation of sequenced collagen data, establishing a live feedback loop between physical acoustics and molecular geometry.
Working in collaboration with Progenote Institute, Connor Oman, and WINT Design Lab, arch. approaches sonification as both a research practice and compositional medium, transforming the material properties of collagen into an immersive auditory experience that makes the invisible architecture of biological matter perceptible to human ears.

@urbiks__music we just launched our new website. This year, two wonderful people joined us. Andy as our studio manager: He is someone who understands people deeply. He connects people in a way that feels natural and human, helps turn our vision for new audio experiences into something real in its purest art. Shaban as a software architect: He is like a magician. He creates things in a way that I cannot even explain. But what I can explain is that he has a deep sensitivity for sound and develops solutions for adaptive audio tools and systems. Both are our trusted friends that share the same intention as us and that’s why we wanted to put our skills together.
Our story started back in 2019, when my husband Jan and I opened our first studio. It was actually made possible by selling a small bit of crypto we had bought years earlier as curious students. In the beginning we focused on mixing and mastering in stereo only. When I do something I love, I pour my heart into it- things grew quickly. In 2021, we built and moved into a proper mastering studio where we could work also in spatial. Overtime, we realised we didn’t want to stay behind closed studio doors, shaping sound only for records. We wanted to step outside- to meet people, to listen with them, to move in real spaces. Our ideas of onsite spatial audio solutions, reality capture and audio consulting etc. grew from that wish- to be present in the moment, in human connection.
In nature and in our perception, sound is spatial- it moves, breathes and surrounds. It lives in space. It’s not limited to speakers or a pair of headphones. That’s the direction we’re moving toward. I hope you check our website and get to know better what I mean by this.

Today a new adaptation of “Fragile Ecosystem” will be presented at Offsite by Wehrmuehle, Friedrichstraße 112b, Berlin, commissioned by the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection.
A dimensional composition by ARCH. and Salomé Chatriot, will be presented through a multi-channel sound system, engulfing the audience in a spatial choreography of respiration, where the spectators themselves are absorbed into the score, their own breath reverberating in the space, complicit in the drama.
@a_rch.co@urbiks__music@mxj_000@studio__allen@salomechatriot@offsite_arts@wehrmuehle
The live performance runs on d&b Soundscape, powered by @dbaudiotechnik_gmbh #dbsoundscape #dbaudio
Since 2019, Salomé Chatriot has staged Fragile Ecosystem as a theatre of respiration: a performance in which the artist and her sculptural apparatus wrestle for air. What unfolds is a brutal pas de deux where bodies verge on rupture, a tragedy of two characters stealing and releasing each other’s breath, caught in a cycle neither can sustain. The structure rises like a pressure point, building toward hyperventilation: intimacy here is violent, charged and unstable.
