What started as a quick thought rapidly became a necessary (15 page…) study of the nervous system. For many of my clients, this is a new approach, and one that they find brings vast self-acceptance as well as creative movement. It’s something that they often asked for written notes on, and something I wish to be able to share with more people, so, here we are. If you do have a chance to read this paper, I hugely appreciate any feedback you may have.
With care, Elaine

@islejewellery : Elaine has helped me several times throughout my journey with isle and its ongoing evolution. Her sessions, though gentle, have acted as dam-breaking exercises, leaving me with a sense of openness, clarity and positivity towards the future of my brand and work life.
Elaine has an innate ability to pinpoint personal sticking points that can hold you back from the creating the work (or business) you truly want. Once she had identified the problems I had with placing value on my work, her practical steps to move forward felt both simple and groundbreaking.
As a creative business owner and a mother, these sessions felt like an important part of getting back to work, a moment to recalibrate before moving forward in an otherwise chaotic work-life schedule.
Elaine: Thank you so much to @islejewellery for these thoughts when I know your time is so precious.
If you are an existing or previous consultancy client, please do get in touch if you’d like to be featured.
A regular exploration in client sessions (and often with myself). Please know, there is no judgement on this - it’s something that has been encouraged by marketing coaches as well as trying to please these platforms, especially for artists and creatives. As always, I welcome your comments and thoughts around this conversation, especially if you have found otherwise.
Part one: Q’s and FAQ’s
As I’m creating writing for here and the website, I’m wondering if there are any questions you’d like an (or a better) answer to. Maybe it’s how consultancy sessions work / how consultancy differs from counselling / my background or certifications / how to book / how this could work for you / or anything else you’d like to know more about. I’d love to answer you in the comments below, or via message.
Part two: Current thoughts.
What chairs to buy for the new counselling area / how a session today might go / audiences / workshops and resources / the continued growth of dictated content (and therefore the values we’re unknowingly gaining or strengthening) / this podcast: Dangerous Memories (from @tortoise ) / dinner, and how to use the generous glut of veg box cucumbers, chard and giant courgette.
The words I’ve been waiting to say… that I am now a fully qualified counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). A pathway I entered into 3 years ago after feeling psychological training was vital for my consultancy work (suffice to say, what I have learned and practiced has expanded far beyond this initial need).
So what does this mean for the studio?
1. Private practice: Starting in September, I will be opening a private practice for highly empathetic, non-judgemental, person-centred counselling. This counselling space is designed to support your psychological and emotional well-being in all aspects of your experience, including life changes, grief, relationships, self-esteem, identity, beliefs, behaviours, addiction, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. I will share more details in the coming weeks but, in the meantime, if you would like to discuss this I would be so glad to help. You can book a free 15-minute call (link in bio), or email or message me directly.
2. Who is this for? Person-centred counselling is a talk-based therapy that provides a trained and supportive environment for anyone experiencing emotional or psychological challenges, from upset to deep distress. At this time, I am open to all needs for those aged 18+. I welcome new as well as existing clients however it's important to note that the counselling relationship is distinct from consultancy, and the two cannot be simultaneously combined. Existing clients interested in exploring counselling are encouraged to reach out to determine if this transition is appropriate.
3. Continued Consultancy services: These remain, and continue to provide relief and expansion for your business and creative practice through focused, supportive guidance. These sessions are led with a person-centred therapeutic approach but are separate from certified counselling.
4. Availability and location: All sessions are available Monday-Friday, from 8am-2pm, either at the peaceful Falmouth studio or online.
With great care, and very much looking forward to opening this with you,
Elaine
The importance of WHY and WHAT when it comes to our marketing and content.
[There’s an upcoming post on WHO soon.]
These elements are often discussed in client sessions and, if this something you’d like to get clearer on, it would be a pleasure to work with you. Visit studio1850.com (in bio) to book a session or free 15 minute video call.
Is this something you already do, or something new to think about?
Do your expectations match your time or are you using a ‘time credit card’?
I often find myself juggling multiple: studio ideas, creative projects, work admin, home tasks — large and small — that I expect to complete without enough time to pay them off.
It’s challenging to be realistic about what I can and ‘should’ achieve. Many of my clients face similar struggles—balancing families, school holidays, extra jobs, and other responsibilities. We often believe that if we push a bit harder, we’ll get everything done. But after months or years of overextending ourselves, we end up exhausted and still feeling ‘behind.’
Recognizing this can greatly improve our sense of accomplishment and reduce the shame of ‘not getting everything done.’ Prioritizing can be difficult, and admitting that not all of our wants can be completed is even harder, but it is a vital process to ensure our wellbeing and direction.
With my clients, I provide a variety of exercises to help manage overflowing schedules and support realistic achievements. If this resonates with you, I’d love to offer my support through a full session or a free 15-minute Q&A.
Is this something you feel? How are your time credit cards? How are you helping yourself, or planning to?
Perhaps the natural pause of the holidays feels like a good time for you to centre yourself / take stock / find some clarity / organise what limited time you may have… Maybe to gain some mental respite to enjoy your break with greater freedom… To arrive back in September with a resolved purpose.
If you’d like to make the most of the availability remaining before September, visit the link in bio to book a full session or a free 15 minute call.
EDIT:
July sessions now all booked.
Aug 6th now all booked.
Aug 16th: two sessions available.
Aug 23rd: one session available.
I am so proud to offer this space, developed in 2020, and having since worked in this way for over 500 hours with circa 150 clients. To now also be opening up to counselling clients is a dream for me.
From September, I will be open to private practice counselling clients. If you are looking for a safe, non-judgemental and caring therapist who can walk alongside you no matter how ‘small’ or life-altering your current challenges may be, please know I am here to listen (Dip. in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy). Please make contact for more information.
There are a wealth of new testimonials to add, but in the meantime I’d like to share this one: “Elaine has the ability to create a safe and valued space for the true self. She brings a quality of conversation that is deep and meaningful, often avoided in the business side of our culture. This allows for revelations to happen, invaluable tools for creative growth.” @lucia.elfina.para (one of this world’s greatest beholders).
If you’d like to discuss your needs and what these offerings could look like for *you*, please DM, email or book a free session via the link in bio.
