Ad Hoc is now open!
Ad Hoc is a collaboration between Marie Hazard and Constança Entrudo, initiated during a month spent living and working together in the very space where the work is now presented, and continued through months of shared experimentation with new materials and methods.
Dissolving distinctions between artist and designer, each work is fully co-created, fostering a dialogue between art and fashion while questioning their positions in the contemporary moment. The exhibition considers the relationship between fabric, space, and the body—where scale, always tied to the human form, becomes an equalizer between art and craft.
The title “Ad Hoc” was inspired by The Ad Hoc Committee of Women Artists, founded in the 1970s. It was a regular SoHo gathering of over 100 women formed in response to the underrepresentation of female artists in the Whitney Biennial.
Ad Hoc opens May 7.
