A classic shaker style kitchen in a bold colour. The kitchen was transformed from a once dilapidated time warp, to an open and inviting space filled with light. The removal of the wall between the stair and the kitchen allows for additional volume into the room and creates a feature open stair.

I’m Tom, an architectural designer with a Master’s degree from the Manchester School of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Nottingham. Having already completed one successful house renovation project, I am about to embark a second, and work with private clients to offer bespoke design solutions - from conceptual design to final drawings.

I thought it would be interesting to start a little series walking you through some of the design choices I’ve made during this renovation, starting off with the front facade and some of the visual illusions small moves on the windows and doors can create for an old building like this. It’s all on the details 🤌🏼 some bits and pieces as the interiors progress. Quartz worktops are on in the kitchen ~ exceeding expectations. The glazed red tiles have started to go on in the bathroom. Painting underway in the living room 👨🏼🎨

The deep tones of the red tiles paired with the uneven glazed textures reflecting the light - divine 🤌🏼 when you see a vision come together from the inside of your brain it makes it that bit more satisfying

Exterior progress! Her incredible transformation is really taking shape outside.
The new windows and doors at the front are in keeping with the original character, where a stone mullion would have once been in the front window, it’s been reimagined to pay respects to how it might’ve looked in the past.
New front door with gold hardware now certainly looks the part, creating an elegant street frontage.
The same can be said at the rear where all windows and doors are now in and finished off.

Yesterdays story was too jam packed with updates ~ so here it is to stay. Big happenings in the old girl at the moments, having lots of fun with the interior choices, windows and front door making a mahoosive difference to the grandeur and curb appeal from the front 🤌🏼

Some side by side before and during shots of the renovation so far! Lots happening, it’s speeding ahead nicely and all coming together. Plastering done, damp proofing almost complete, windows and doors half way in. Beginning to put together the interiors 🫡🤩 starting to inject some elegance and character back into these grand spaces which were once robbed of all of their beauty!
