Hi friends,
After a long sabbatical away from this account, I've come back to it and realised it is such a mess.
To all of you wonderful people I have worked with in the past, and now call my friends, I'm sorry for being away for so long.
To all the new friends I'll make moving forward, welcome.
I'm Sean, a wedding photographer based in the North West of England. Specialising in a mixture of documentary and editorial styles, I help couples capture memories of their big day in a blend of timeless style, and raw emotion.
If you're planning a wedding, and needing a photographer, or just want some advice send me a message.
Love you all.
Throwback to this time last week where I met some amazing couples, and suppliers alike.
Massive thank you to @bellebridalmagazine for putting on one hell of a show and to all the other vendors that made the weekend enjoyable.
Big thank you @jackcobbmedia for coming along to help on my stand, and capturing these clips for me.
If you're looking for a wedding photographer for 2026/2027, send me a message to check if your date is free.

Pre-loved outfits, bold fashion, and the photos (2026 trend signals)
If you are thinking secondhand, upcycled, or “not traditional bridal”, you are not niche anymore. Resale is growing fast, and it is shaping what couples actually wear.
Here is what is bubbling up for 2026, plus what photographs brilliantly and what can be tricky.
1) Pre-loved goes mainstream
What works on camera:
→ vintage texture
→ real fabric weight
→ beading
→ tailoring details.
What can be tricky:
Fit and comfort. A beautiful pre-loved piece that pulls, gapes, or twists will show.
Do this:
→ budget for tailoring
→ do a sit, hug, walk test
→ steam it properly and early
2) Cool Blue and bolder colour stories
Pinterest is literally calling “Cool Blue” as a 2026 cue.
What works on camera: blue reads clean and editorial against stone, greenery, and neutral venues.
What can be tricky: mixing too many “almost blues” that clash (navy, cobalt, teal).
Do this:
→ pick one hero blue
→ keep the rest neutral or tonal
3) Lace is back, but styled differently
Bridal trend reporting is flagging lace for Fall 2026.
What works on camera: lace in soft backlight, close-ups, movement shots.
What can be tricky: very tight lace patterns can create a weird ripple effect in photos.
Do this:
→ try it in daylight and indoor light
→ avoid ultra-micro patterns if you are going heavy lace
4) Shimmer, embellishment, and statement shine
Vogue is calling out shimmering embellishments for Fall 2026 bridal.
What works on camera: evening portraits, dancefloor flash, candlelight vibes.
What can be tricky: harsh midday sun can make sparkle look “busy”.
Do this:
→ save the super-shiny layer for later
→ bring a matte option for bright daylight
5) Bows, coats, and add-on pieces
Bows and outer layers are coming through in bridal trend round-ups.
What works on camera: movement, shape, drama in wide shots.
What can be tricky: oversized bows can slump or twist without structure.
Do this:
→ ask for internal support (stitching, clips, tailoring)
→ do a jump, spin, and hug test
Ever gotten into a river in the middle of winter in front of about 100 strangers just for a client?
No?
Well let me tell you a story.
The year was 2023, it was about 3°C, and my friend asked me to be a hidden photographer.
At 6'3 & about 100KG+ in weight, it's difficult to stay "hidden"...
Add into this that I play American Football with the soon to be groom, and I've met the soon to be bride a few times.
So she knew my face
Thankfully I just looked like a creep instead of being caught!!!
I was wrapped up warm, and just pointing a camera at a random couple.
She never saw it coming!!!
Thankfully when she turned around she saw the man of her dreams on one knee rather than me pointing a lens in her direction.
If you are planning to surprise your partner this Christmas and want the memories captured, I'm looking for an excuse to buy a ghillie suit
Practical advice for camera shy couples
If the thought of being photographed makes you want to disappear into the carpet, you are very much my people. Here is how we make it feel human, not like a photoshoot.
1. Tell your photographer you are nervous
Do not brush it off with a joke. Say it clearly:
"We feel awkward in front of a camera."
A good photographer will:
→ Plan gentler prompts instead of stiff poses
→ Start with longer lenses and more distance
→ Build in time at the start just to chat, not shoot
2. Focus on each other, not the lens
3. Keep your hands busy
Awkward hands are half the battle. Use them.
Hold hands, link arms, play with hair or a veil
Straighten a tie or fix a buttonhole
Hold a drink, bouquet or jacket
Small movements stop you freezing and give your body something natural to do.
4. Move, do not pose
Instead of "stand here and smile", I build movement in:
Walking towards or away from me
Turning in to each other
A slow spin with the dress
Sitting, standing, leaning on a doorway or wall
Movement loosens shoulders, softens faces and gives you something to think about other than your expression.
5. Take the pressure off the couple portraits
If portraits feel like the scary bit, we shrink that pressure:
→ Keep them short and broken into two or three mini sessions
→ Start with very simple, relaxed set ups
→ Shoot some from further away so you can forget I am there
6. Do a pre wedding or engagement session
One of my couples arrived for their engagement shoot telling me, "We are so awkward, can you fix that?"
We spent the first ten minutes just walking and talking. No camera at eye level. By the end they were laughing, teasing each other and had forgotten about the lens completely.
7. Remember what the photos are really for
They are not for social media first. They are for:
→ Your future selves in ten or twenty years
→ The people who could not be there
→ The kids or nieces and nephews who will look back at them
Ever wondered why wedding photography cost so much???
Like many services it seems like there is a wedding "tax"
(Everyone's favourite word in the UK right now)
Simply put, you're investing in a family heirloom that will outlive you & your soon to be partner
Compared to a branding shoot, even the most expensive ones, you don't usually get a second take (if you do the whole marriage thing right)
This added up with the fact a wedding day has 100s of things that could go wrong, you're investing in someone to navigate that whilst making sure you, as the couple, don't even notice.
When it comes to your wedding day, you want to know you've invested in images that will tell stories to your grandkids & great-grandkids
I would love to know your hot takes on weddings too!

Gen Z are now the ones getting married.
The time has finally come for my generation to start saying I do, and here are some of the traditions I'm seeing us swap out:
1) Spending too much on their wedding
2) Spending the entire night walking around talking to guests
3) Letting stress rule the day
4) Free flowing booze
5) Traditional guest books
Let me know in the comments any trading you see being dropped recently.
