Find geeky music friends here!
KONGSI MUZIK is a place where you can take a break from the algorithm-fueled dystopia into an endless time warp of releases where context, history and curation is part of the conversational fun!
Get to know other music heads while listening to one album every month and borak2 about why you think that album is special to you or why in the grand scheme of all that is musical, it isn't that special anyway.
In conjunction with the launch of @studio.fono , we're happy to bring our community to Zhongshan. It's complimentary jer (but with limited slots!), and a new way to broaden your music taste🎧🗣️🎶
Our album of the month is a 1984 Malaysian release called Kum Kum by Titra. There's almost absolutely nothing about this LP online, yet it's a gem that @farhirafrdn from @noisyheadspacemag has and it'd be a waste not dive into the sonics of such a unique album.
Register via link in bio. Limited slots. You will receive a calendar invite once confirmed!
Starting May 6th, the space will be open to the public* every Wednesday to Saturday, 8PM to midnight. Come and hang out with friends, play some Magic cards, sit alone in the corner and sketch/journal or meet new people.
But first, let’s have a Sunday daytime party to make this official. Our friends Megan (House Dance KL), moe. (Endless Groove, Refuge Worldwide) and Ron Hameed (Fono Hi-Fi) will join us on the decks, bringing with them their impeccable music selections to soundtrack the gathering.
The weather has been unpredictable lately so wear loose and comfortable just in case your body commands you to bust a move or two. This is an all-ages venue and entry is by donation if you can afford it. A minimum of one drink per person is highly encouraged to help us keep this going.
*There will be ticketed and/or private events every now and then.
Okay, we’ll try to make this short.
Let’s clear the air. Studio Fono is a multi-purpose event space that aims to be a hub for educational projects and activations, screenings, talks, and masterclasses. Promoters can rent it for their own events - album launch parties, poetry slams, book/script readings, live shows or community meet-ups.
We are also currently setting up @klcr.live to platform a diverse range of voices and narratives, tentatively going live in Q4 this year. In the future, we are planning to host workshops and classes in radio show production, media, and related creative fields.
There will be no weekly parties like in the old version of this space, but we will also serve as a community space for our neighbours, collaborators, visitors, and guests. Studio Fono will be open to the public (the exact days and operation hours will be announced soon). Anyone* can come up and listen to music picked by the team, grab a drink and meet friends or make new connections.
fono, as a brand, will continue to exist as a boutique agency specialising in fringe music curation and consultation, and sporadically host events if we feel like it.
*Unfortunately, Studio Fono is not wheelchair accessible
We’re not quite ready for the public yet but we’re hosting a group of entrepreneurs and potential investors for a lil networking soirée on this fine Thursday night and a private screening tomorrow night (Friday)
Write to us if you’re looking for an intimate space for your event/meetup/etc or come through and hang out with us when we’re open (announcement soon).

We are still fine tuning some stuff but can’t wait to share with the rest of you what we are working on. Stay safe and remember to check on your friends. Peace out, one love.
