Hi, I’m Grant, a production sound mixer based between London and Oxford. Nothing feels better to me that being tasked with a challenging job and using my years of experience and the right equipment to achieve the best results on the day.

Great day at work on the rooftops overlooking Oxford Circus! Tasked with making sure we could hear 3 contribs on radio mics who were very spread out and that they could all hear each other, but not themselves (achieved by creating a mix-minus) plus having comms from the roof; achieved by plumbing a walkie feed into their 3 individual IEM (In Ear Monitor) feeds, sent over a high power (for extra range) Wisycom transmission back to the contribs on the ground. Everything worked perfectly and I also have to thank my assistant Julian for his diligent radio micing duties.
A few pics of my trolley on set. One day we had to record close up of a professional pianists hands and playing to lay over an actors scene. It’s always lovely recording instruments for work. Here we used two MKH50’s spaced over the bass and high strings 👌🎵 as well as a wider DPA4018 boom mic to give space to the recording which may help when cutting the scene.
Selfie at the end of a long hard day trekking through the snowy wilderness of Norway for a roofing tile advert! A very rewarding days work with stunning scenery.
