I met D in NYC In 1997 after I show I was playing with my old band. His energy was out of this world … literally! I wasn’t in the best situation being bullied and made to feel less than wanted and appreciated by the ‘musical situation’ I was in at that time. D came rushing into the dressing room after the show and like a spiritual baseball bat, he levelled the playing field. He showed me so much love and attention. I can’t express in words how uplifting to my soul that was, how transformative. He invited me to jam with him and Ahmir @questlove Thomson at Electric Ladyland studio. D’s energy was explosive going from zero to sixty in a second. Wow! We had an amazing jam with the calm and meticulous energy of @russelevado at the helm. I thought I had found peace with his physical form now vibrating at a higher frequency, until I heard Questloves story about D’s ‘snap’ handshake. That story brought back so many memories of our time at Electric Lady. I travelled back to Electric Lady after our tour was finished with the idea to cut our jam to tape. There I met the amazing @saadiqmoves . Wow! What an incredible soul/musician . I was beyond nervous. I met some amazing souls on that trip and although the jam never made the cut , it’s somewhere and I’m still looking for it 🥴 I wrote words to the vocal riff D was singing and called the song ‘My Baby’s Eyes’ it is about my daughter Lilyella. 27 years later🪷. Our bodies are temporary. Our souls are eternal! I am grateful for the for the love I was shown by D, Ahmir ,Russ, Spanky and the man who brought it all together, Dominique Trenier. The song playing is a song with @90z_don_e . We were signed to D and Dom’s label ‘Cheeba Sounds’. Talking of ‘Cheeba’, when D came to the studio in London , we set the fire alarm off 😆 it was a Sunday so there was no help turning it off. We sat there listening to this track with the alarm going off for half an hour until we were like … wow.. the alarm sounds good man’ 😆😆 People always say ‘rest in peace’ but the real battle starts now ! Michael Eugene Archer , I will continue the battle down here and honour Black music. I only stood on the shoulders of giants. Wow!!!! What a view !

Many moons ago I started my musical journey. Nick Van Gelder introduced me to Jay and Toby where I did an audition in Nicks flat.
