What an incredible experience with incredible people. Being able to race with my brother and mentor has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and getting to do it with my family and friends here made it even more special. A huge thank you to Roland Krainz and his family, as well as @jag.newyork and @autotechnic_racing , for making all of this possible. Not quite the result we were hoping for after a small issue with the car, but we finished the race and showed great pace throughout. Fingers crossed we get another opportunity down the line to come back and take home some hardware! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Couldn’t be more excited to announce that I’ll be racing in Race 2 of GT4 America at Sebring International Raceway alongside my brother, @stevanmcaleer . This is something we’ve dreamed about for 20 years, and now that the opportunity is finally here, it honestly feels surreal. Even crazier, this all came together super last minute, so we’re heading straight into race weekend ready to give it everything we’ve got. Huge thank you to @jag.newyork and @autotechnic_racing for making this happen. Now it’s time to get to work. Race 2 starts Saturday at 12:15 PM. Let’s see what we’ve got. šŸ

Last night, we had to say goodbye to Lucky. For those of you who don’t know, a little back story is necessary. Back in July, Amberae went to a yard sale, and usually at yard sales we both just glance around—if we see something, we get it, and if not, we leave. But that day, Amberae looked around longer than ever. No real reason—she just did. She ended up finding out that the homeowners had beagles that they were keeping outside in an old elevated chicken coop. These people were breeders and when the time had come to hang their hat from breeding they put these dogs in an elevated chicken coop where they didn’t come back out. Rain, sun, snow—you name it, these guys were out there. Amberae persuaded them to let us take the dogs in and give them a home. Rosie, the female, was adopted very quickly since she was in good health and only five years old. Lucky, on the other hand, was old, fragile, and in horrendous health. He had spent 14 years living in a box outside. When we brought him home, I put him on his own bed. He froze. I don’t know if he had ever felt real material under his feet. We gave him five months of medical care, a warm home, treats, and love. That was all his old body could take. His health had been deteriorating over the last month, and yesterday his heartbeat got slower, his breathing got heavier, and he said goodbye. The lesson in all of this is: if you see dogs being neglected, please do something. The thought that Lucky could have spent his final moments freezing in someone’s backyard makes me so angry. Dogs aren’t a novelty. Remember that you are their lifetime, so give them everything.

We said our final goodbyes to Lucky tonight. Im both heartbroken and angry. July 7th, I found Lucky & another beagle, Rosie, in someone's back yard living in horrific conditions. Rosie was in decent shape and was quickly adopted. Lucky, 14 years old, had spent his entire life in a raised kennel. His "owners" never had to walk him as the crate floor made it so his business would fall to the ground. He was sick, fighting multiple infections, teeth quite literally rotting out of his mouth, trapped in a nightmare. July 8th he came home where his world opened up. He experienced being inside, fresh water, antibiotics, a soft bed, friends, love and so much more for the first time. He learned how to run, and discovered playing with toys. He learned how to zoomie and zoomed every chance he got. He had so much personality and so much love to give. For 5 months, until his body just couldnt take anymore. We suspect he had cancer, despite feeding him almost anything and everything he wanted, he rapidly lost over 30% of his body weight in just 5 months. Today, we held him for hours, told him how much we love him, and gave him all the back scratches he could take. His heart rate slowed and we had to say goodbye. 14 years in hell. 5 good months. Its not fair and its far too common. I implore you, if you see something DO something. If you know an animal is being neglected or worse, DO something. Report it, call me, do anything. And for the love of God stop supporting breeders. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN ETHICAL BREEDER. Lucky, like so many others deserved so much more.
