One of the latest innovations in building materials is self-sensing and electricity producing metamaterial concrete. The next generation concrete can be mechanically tuned and its electrical signals used to monitor for any damage. The goal is for the material to be used in all future infrastructure projects #Engineering #StructuralEngineering #Construction

May 24th marks the last day of classes for Belton ISD. As the 2023 school year comes to a close, we are thinking of Belton students and remembering our work on Lake Belton High School, only the second high school in the district. Have you seen it yet? Take a look: https://bit.ly/3oe1Rq7 #BeltonISD #K12Construction #StructuralEngineering

Nurses are a vital part of the healthcare system and don’t get enough recognition, so we’re happy that May is National Nurses Month. Structures is proud to work on projects to support the work and education of nurses on a daily basis. The Dewitt School of Nursing building is just one example of our work to support the future of nursing. And if you know a nurse, be sure to tell them thank you for keeping us healthy! #NursesMonth #Healthcare #StructuralEngineering

Happy Teachers Appreciation Week! Teachers might have the most important job in America and throughout the world - educating and shaping the next generation. That’s why we are so passionate about the K-12 projects we work on. It is an honor to be part of creating spaces to support our educators and their students. You can look at some of our K-12 projects here: /about-us/k-12/ #TeacherAppreciationWeek #StructuralEngineering

When designing the North Central Health Center in Austin, we built individual clinics around a central two-story public Medical Hall. We then installed interior glass in each clinic to allow the clerestory light to filter in so that each space feels warm and inviting. P. Terry’s or Whataburger? We know it’s a tough decision because both restaurants are staples in Texas. Either way, we can’t help but appreciate the 50’s and 60’s SoCal vibes and striking structure of this P. Terry’s location in Austin - check it out: /portfolio/p-terrys-2/ #StructuralEngineering #DrinkandDine

The transformation of Bergstrom Air Force Base into the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport South Terminal greatly expanded the airport's capabilities. This retro-themed terminal adds a unique flavor to the rest of the airport with its vibrant colors and modern touches. We’re proud to have been part of the team that helped repurpose this structure. Check out this amazing urban village - it contains 63 new homes including condos, townhomes, and single-family units. We faced multiple structural design challenges to make this project successful, including working with multiple material types, transitions, and shapes for the interior spaces. It was a great opportunity to flex our skills and we’re proud to be part of this project. /portfolio/frank-urban-village/ #structuralengineering #frankvillage #modernliving
