Well I be... SSQ has been at this for a year now, believe it or not. So if there’s one thing you know about us by now, it’s that we’re wranglers. And wranglers wrangle. We don’t much care if it’s KOMs, coffee, or cows. And when we heard there was a CORRAL out our back door, we decided to stuff our packs full of @thedustymiller_ treats and head out for a little look-see. We didn’t find any heifers, just the dusty remnants of old sheep camps. But, say it with us now... WRANGLERS WRANGLE. We settled for a good old-fashioned KOM. After 3 months of hibernation, we decided to head up into the mountains on the hard-packed-highway known as 8th St. Now, there’s still snow up in them hills, so we didn’t make it all the way up, but we made it high enough to get a good view of your sweet, sweet mother’s house. And after a day of wranglin, recovery involves 2 things: a lawn chair and a @lostgrovebrewing libation so cold it could put hair on a cactus. And that’s where Shade City Brewfest comes in. Well lookidy what we got here... an ol’ Side Quester. Now, when it comes to Side Questin, we know yall love a quick and dusty 5-min quest. Home for supper kinda deal. But it’s a big world out there, full of pretty views and wild spaces. And sometimes a measly 5 minutes just ain’t enough to scratch that itch for adventure. Luckily here in Boise, we’ve got acres of open spaces ripe for exploring. So on a fine fall afternoon, it’s not uncommon to snag the 2-wheeled steed and set out to see what one can see. And wouldn’t you know it, at the top of Stack’s Rock, you might stumble upon a bushel of gold awaitin. But worth more than gold, is helping to pave more trails to set ourselves a yonder. Well I’ll be a donkeys uncle look who we have here! Welcome back for Round 2 of Saddle Side Quests! You see, we were bellied up outside at the @goodtimesbagels discussing our favorite country tune when a man and his mule walked by mumbling something about a lead stash up in them hills. Now, maybe we were just drunk on carbs and cream cheese (because, apparently, ‘no one else saw a mule walking down main, okay) but we were dead determined to head out and see for ourselves. So off we went, pedalin’ faster than thoroughbred that could smell the barn, leaving behind nothing but a cloud a dust. And after all that fuss, wouldn’t you know it, we didn’t find us no lead, but a crown of gold at the top of the gulch!! 👑 Got a segment for us to try?! My Report Card For Manaslu Circuit Trek: Views: A+ Trail: A The personnel/company: A Overall gear packing: fucking F (brought way too few socks and underwear) Body’s adjustment to the timezone: D- Ability to run from incoming “tsunami”: A (wasted no time, left group behind. Our guide was confused why I ran so far.) Blisters: D (3 on toes) Fun facts about Manaslu! It’s the 8th largest mountain in the world. The trek circles it. About half way through, you’re only 3 miles from the border of Tibet. At Larke pass, you’ll be at 16,900 feet as you make your way towards the decent of the hike. Lots of lovely farms, kind people, and monkeys too, which I was thrilled to see. It took us 11 days and was my first time using squat toilets (quickly managed it). Overall, feeling grateful for the opportunity to explore a bit of Nepal with good company!! :)
