Toenemende contentmoderatie vormt een groeiende bedreiging voor de online veiligheid van queer mensen. Maar wat gebeurt er als systemen, getraind op bestaande normen, bepalen wat zichtbaar mag zijn, en wat niet?
AI herkent queer. Maar ziet het ons ook echt? Achter elke output schuilt bias, en precies die bias bepaalt wie wordt weergegeven, en wie langzaam maar zeker uit het digitale landschap verdwijnt.
Voor een nieuwe column in @expreszo.nl doken we in de wereld van AI en contentmoderatie, waar zichtbaarheid nooit neutraal is. Aan de hand van recente pagina-bans, waaronder die van Striptopia, spraken we met hoogleraar dr. Richard Rogers over hoe deze restricties ontstaan en wat ze betekenen voor queer representatie online. @maggielaylonsaunders van @striptopia deelt daarnaast haar eigen ervaring met de ban en de impact die dat heeft gehad, terwijl @tesseltenzweege vertelt hoe zij haar weg vindt in het online veilig blijven binnen een steeds onvoorspelbaardere digitale wereld, en wat er nodig is om daarin zichtbaar te kunnen blijven.
