While making the drawings in Quarter Mile Magick, Tim produces these beautiful swatch sheets to test colours and how they overlap, pinning them up across the studio walls. We decided one would make a lovely introduction to the book, offering a glimpse into the process behind the drawings. We did a lot of test prints with PageMasters to figure out how Tim Zercie’s drawings should live in the book, not just reproducing them but shifting them into something new and specific. Risograph felt right for this. It holds onto the detail of the originals, while introducing its own grain, slight misalignment, and fluorescent inks that lift the drawings. Printed in four colours: black, aqua, yellow, fluorescent pink. Two paper stocks, French folded. One closer to the original drawing paper, one for the archive material, so there’s a quiet split between the two. So you get a double up-cycled, vintage, one-of-a-kind Americana t-shirt made / put together by yours truly! That’s 40–50 year old artwork pressed onto a 30+ year old shirt. This is not new, it’s not supposed to be, and they look beautiful together. Rewind and reverse back in time. Straight out of the golden age of burnouts, backyard builds, and rat rods, this is a real-deal vintage mash-up. No reprints. No remakes. Just old-school plastisol transfers and attitude.
