Starstruck Acrylic on Canvas 36 in. X 48 in. 2026 By:Akilah Watts & Anna Gibson Exhibition: Reimagined II: Under the Galvanized Roof No. 3 within the living room of the exhibition. This piece serves as embodiment of the family tv/living room. Growing up with that one main tv with limited to no channels but the knowledge that at 7:00 pm the Evening News would be on, or on Saturday mornings you’d be watching cartoons. This piece speaks to the feeling of immersing oneself in such entertainment. #tv #oldschooltv #art #painting #acrylic painting

A Father’s Love Acrylic and Glitter on Canvas 23 3/4 in. X 24 3/4 in. 2026 Exhibition: Reimagined II: Under the Galvanized Roof This piece was the second artwork house within the living room section for the exhibition. I wanted to expand on the ideas of family within my work for this exhibition and “A Father’s Love” is the first piece where that expansion took place. It was nice to revisit some old family photos and create another piece which features my brother, my father and myself. My father passed in 2012 so every artwork that I have created that feature’s him has a special place in my heart. #art #artwork #painting #acrylicpainting

“Under the Galvanize Roof” Acrylic and Glitter on Canvas 36 in. X 48 in. 2026 By: Akilah Watts, Alanis Forde, Anna Gibson . Our exhibition “Reimagined II: Under the Galvanized Roof” has recently come to a close. In the following weeks we will be posting all the artwork from the exhibition. . A big thank you to @caribbeanbrushstrokes for helping us to bring this exhibition to life and to @frameartco for always believing in us and providing the frame for this piece which, fun fact was on our first ever collaborative artwork when we did Reimagined: Unspoken Bodies and Space @frameartco back in 2021. . Reimagined Il: Under the Galvanize Roof brings together the artistic colors of Akilah Watts, Alanis Forde, and Anna Gibson, three Barbadian Female artists whose practices explore the complexities of identity, memory, and place. The exhibition takes its title from the ever-prominent galvanized roof, a symbol of Caribbean domesticity, resilience, and adaptation. Beneath this shelter, the artists reimagine what it means to exist, create, dream and escape within and beyond the island’s cultural and physical landscapes. Each artist contributes a distinct visual language that intertwines personal narrative with collective history. Watts’ evocative portraits reflect quiet introspection and emotional depth while Forde explores the tensions between vulnerability and empowerment through layered, expressive figures, and Gibson examines the elements of nostalgia, vulnerability of self and belonging, embedded in Caribbean spaces. Together, their works challenge static representations of Barbadian womanhood and assert the fluid, multifaceted nature of contemporary Caribbean identity. Reimagined Il encourages these conversations within a broader dialogue of transformation. The “galvanize roof” becomes not only a marker of protection and familiarity, but a metaphorical structure under which new stories, visions, and possibilities take form.

2025… not sure what to say. I think this is the first time I’m glad to wrap up a year. While I am grateful for the opportunity I had this year, it has also been one of my most challenging years. I pray that it is preparing me for a better and brighter season in 2026 🥂 #newyear #newyearseve #oldyears

Life lately has been rough! Recently when people ask me how I’m doing and I say tired they say it’s a good thing cause it means I’m busy😆. I’m truly thankful for the blessing of being busy, so busy doing what I love that I am tired. I’m trying to hold that feeling close during this season of life as I power through everything, new possibilities, opportunities, grief, balance, health, family, friend, Christmas cleaning 🤭 and still have sense of self. #lifelately #photodump
