🏃🏽♀️🏃🏿♂️💨 Running isn’t just about fitness—it’s about breaking barriers. Daryl Murphy, a passionate runner and community activist, is helping to change the narrative that running is a punishment. In our interview, he opened up about how systemic issues have long kept many African Americans from embracing running, a mindset rooted in a history where movement was restricted.
Through his Miles for Justice initiative and as a Nike Run Coach, Daryl is encouraging people to lace up, get moving, and reclaim their health and wellness. We’re proud to honor Daryl at our Mahogany Columbus Most Influential Men reception this Thursday for his incredible impact on the community.
Want to join the movement? Come out every Tuesday at 6 PM to Nike Easton for a community run or walk—everyone’s welcome!
And let’s send our congratulations to Daryl and his fiancée as they prepare for their wedding this Saturday!!

Celebrating another trip around the sun in the Rockies! 🎂🏔️
Breckenridge, you didn’t make it easy, but you made it unforgettable. First time here. Not the last.
Here’s how it went:
Witnessed a mountaintop wedding ✓
Survived on only 2 open trails & very thin snow ✓
Gasped for oxygen at 10,000 ft the whole time ✓
The snow was extremely light and I’m blaming both Mother AND Human Nature for that one. But the views? Unmatched. Me and wifey always hold it down no matter what 🤍

Today is World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Day 💙
I am inviting you all to join the Empower Autism 5K Run on May 9th at Columbus Commons.
Autism doesn’t affect me directly but I know it affects my community, and that’s enough reason for me to show up. Last year I ran and realized if someone I know had autism, I probably wouldn’t even know. Autism has such a wide spectrum and can look so different.
It’s the little boy who melts down at the grocery store not because he’s spoiled, but because the fluorescent lights and the noise are genuinely overwhelming him. It’s the girl who was told she was “just anxious” all her life before finally getting a real answer. It’s the working adult who smiles and holds it together all day and crashes the moment they get home. It’s the grown adult who aged out of childhood services and is now navigating a world that forgot about them.
And right now, that world is making things harder. Federal funding for autism research has been cut by $31 million. Not redirected. Not restructured. Cut. Studies focused on women and girls with autism, one of the most underdiagnosed and overlooked groups, have been cancelled. A decade-long study tracking hundreds of autistic children was abruptly shut down. At the exact moment this community needs more support, the safety net is getting smaller.
Most of us want to help, we just don’t always know how. This run is how. Autism is lifelong. The need for support is lifelong. Every registration, every dollar raised, and every person who shows up on May 9th helps fund the services and support that the autism community depends on especially now, when so much is being pulled away at the federal level.
Having a good turnout at this event really means a lot to me. I’d love to see you at that start line. 💙

No April Fool’s… we really started from scratch. I always believed, and that belief never wavered. I never made it about myself. I always put the community first. I kept going because it’s bigger than me.
People are really struggling with their physical health and mental health. I am people. Running and run clubs aren’t a cure-all for anything… but man, it sure helps with everything.

Days like this really exemplify why Easton Run Club exists.
A supportive space where people come to improve their bodies and their minds, together.
Sunshine, good miles, and lots of smiles made for a special one. I’m incredibly honored to lead this community and grateful for everyone that laced up and brought the energy.
This community keeps growing because YOU continue to show up week in and week out.
Appreciate the local Nike Easton team for working alongside us and supporting the run. The new store setup is amazing - a track inside the store is next level!
If you get the “rate your experience” email share the love and mention Easton Run Club. The more our community shows up, the more we can continue building for Columbus!
Be kind. Give love. Show respect. #eastonrunclub
6 Years ago, Ahmaud Arbery, a black man, was murdered while running. Today, alongside many other organizations, @bronzevilleactive held its annual Run with Maud event with various community club members in attendance. Prior to the run, a 23 second moment of silence was held, and @malik.willoughby and @stretchmurphy reminded the audience the gravity of the situation in which Ahmaud’s life was taken. That he was not afforded the gift of going home that fateful day because of the color of his skin.
His death sent shockwaves, and highlighted racial injustices that still exist. His legacy lives on with the @ahmaudarberyfoundation in fighting systemic injustices, promoting equity, and creating opportunities for young black men to thrive.
Speaking candidly my ask, as a black man, is for all who run with Maud, take a moment and remember why we run for Maud.
