Because we are born into a culture that exists almost entirely with a world of time, few of us are able to be continually present - a curse of modern civilization. While we thirst for progress, it leads to structure in life that no longer requires us to be present. The more automated our experiences become, the less involved we are in the art of living it.  In the world of time, it’s challenging to be grateful as nothing appears to unfold the way we think it should. The past holds regrets, and the future the promise of improvement, while the present requires constant adjustment. We therefore spend our waking moments reflecting on what didn’t work in the past and planning those adjustments we believe are necessary to attain the peace and fulfillment we seek. Because these adjustments are oriented to a “better tomorrow,” we’ve forgotten how to have a meaningful today. Consequently, the experience we are having right now is viewed as just a means to an end. By living this way, we consistently leapfrog over the present. just before midnight i booked a quick trip to belgrade before making any plans or contacting anyone. this morning i wrote an old friend to let him know i was headed to town. we haven’t seen one another in at least 4 or 5 years. i’ve been blessed to get to know @artez_online in many different contexts and environments throughout our respective inspired travels and such. so whether it be in mumbai markets, croatian islands, or various projects throughout serbia, andre was always welcoming with an open heart, and a beautiful smile. to me? this is the beauty and essence of travel. when i started my journey, i believed it was important to reconnect n intersect with those who meant the most in as many places as possible. i’ve found it to be one of the most gratifying aspects whilst walking my path. andre is certainly one of those fellas. see you soon, my friend! @wuperkec and niko and everyone else - see you soon!
