'alloy' can refer to any mixed metal and most metals used in jewelry are alloys! technically most gold is alloy because pure gold is too soft to be used alone, so it's mixed with metals like silver, copper, and zinc, and palladium. but i'm not super familiar with the karat system, so my alloy portion of this project is referencing cheaper alloy like zinc alloy and steel alloy.
