little dedication piece for dash since today would have been our four year pairiversary. I miss her so much and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her. I just hope she’s happy wherever she is. it’s also hard to believe it’s been nine months since she got taken away, it feels both like so much and so little time has passed since then.

58 shots, 32 backgrounds, and 305 hours later my senior capstone film a dash of hope has finally been completed! I’ve poured my heart and soul into this film and you can come watch it on the big screen this friday at chroma for both the senior screening (2pm) and best of screening (6pm). this will probably be the only opportunity for a long while that you’ll be able to see the film so come check it out!

this is the shot where I was faced with the limitations of after effects cc light sweeps cutting off the rim lighting effect on the left side of the frame due to toonboom only exporting frames within the 16:9 aspect ratio. the solution was moving dash’s animation over within toonboom and then realigning her in after effects, a bit tedious but worth it for me

this was the first shot I colored where the characters actually overlapped and required me to tweak dash’s colors to better contrast against the raccoon, thankfully I knew the lighting would help give that extra boost to keep things clear for the audience

this shot was an absolute pain to figure out in terms of dash’s walk cycle, it honestly caused me more issues than the raccoon’s walk cycle due to how simple and blocky she is
