KINOTECHA brought together creatives, technologists and thinkers for a full-day deep dive into how AI is transforming the film industry - from how stories are made to how audiences experience them. Hosted at Samsung KX on 17 March 2026, as part of the 24th KINOTEKA Polish Film Festival, the inaugural conference sparked thoughtful conversations across three key panels: visual storytelling in the age of AI, the evolving relationship between audiences and cinema and AI as a creative engine across sound, image, and film. The speaker lineup reflected a powerful mix of industry and academic perspectives. Tomasz Opasinski @opasinski shared insights from his work at the cutting edge of generative AI and creative tooling, while artist James Dawe @open_dawe explored how AI intersects with contemporary visual language. Andrzej Klimowski @andrzejklimo brought a legacy perspective on image-making and storytelling and Georgia Thomas-Parr grounded discussions in film theory and audience studies. From the industry side, Simon David Miller @simondavidmiller discussed innovation in film development, James Bowthorpe @james.bowthorpe expanded the conversation into place-making and creative ecosystems and Sijin Liu @sijin.artist offered a compelling look at blending traditional filmmaking with AI-driven processes. Across the day, one thing was clear: AI is not just a tool, but a shifting creative partner - raising as many questions as it answers about authorship, ethics and the future of cinema. A huge thank you to everyone who joined, contributed, and helped make the very first KINOTECHA such a dynamic and thought-provoking event. Special thanks as well to Sebastian Strakowicz @strakowicz for expertly moderating the panels and co-organising such a memorable day! 🤖 📸 by Krzysztof Dubicki (PCI London) #KINOTECHA #AIinFilm #CreativeAI #FutureOfCinema #FilmIndustry

In this episode, they share two deeply moving and powerful stories from Ukraine, speaking openly about the realities of war and the hardships these conditions have created. This is an essential listen, not only to connect more deeply with the wider KINOTEKA programme, but also to connect with one another through honest, human stories of resilience and survival.
