Today on Substack, I’m writing about one of the simplest styling gestures I never seem to tire of. Branches in a vase. Not overly arranged. Not precious. Just a beautiful vessel, a few natural branches, and the quiet shift they can bring to a room. Branches have always inspired me because they bring height, movement, shadow, and imperfection into a space without asking for too much attention. They remind me that styling is not always about adding more. Sometimes it is about seeing what the room is asking for. A little structure. A little softness. A little life. The full story is on Substack today. #interiorstyling #editorialstyling #interiorstylist #visualstorytelling #quietinteriors brancharrangement vessels interiordetails stylingdetails storiesfromastylist

A quiet corner, softened by light. Styled with restraint — because sometimes the room only needs a little space to breathe. #storiesfromastylist

When Mike and I designed the boys’ room, we had a very specific idea. From painting the room, to designing and building this bunk bed ourselves so it would fit the space properly, every detail was considered. It was one of those projects that required a lot of thought, a lot of problem solving, and a lot of trust in the vision. Was anyone here back when we built this bed for the boys? This is still one of the projects I am most proud of — not because it was perfect, but because it was personal. It was made for them, with them in mind. Children have such incredible imaginations. Their ideas are often more honest, more playful, and more interesting than anything we could force onto a room. Listen to them. You might be surprised by what they help you create. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #storiesfromastylist #interiorstylist #stylist #interiordesign #admagazine architecturaldigest housebeautiful bunkbed Martha Stewart elledecor archdaily vogueliving architecture instagood interiorstyling interiorinspiration interiorsphotographer timelessdesign adstyle canadiandesign

Styled for @melissamaryjenkinsart and photographed by me. Melissa’s work has such a quiet beauty to it — soft, thoughtful, and full of feeling. I loved creating a small moment around these pieces and letting the art hold the room.

Wood, paper, brass, branch, light. Nothing excessive. Nothing fighting for attention. . . #storiesfromastylist #interiorstyling #britishvogue #goldenhour

One of my favourite studies in restraint. Soft pinstripe linen, an aged book, morning light. Nothing overstated, just atmosphere. Featuring @cultiver_goods . . . . . . . . #storiesfromastylist #interiørstyling #cultiver #studiesinrestraint #simplebeauty

Good styling is not about adding more. It is about editing with discipline until the room feels calm, coherent, and true. That is the work. . . . . . . . . #storiesfromastylist

It does not always have to be two matching lamps. Sometimes a bedroom feels better when it is a little less expected. A nightstand can hold balance, light, and presence without everything being perfectly paired. A useful place to begin is this: remove five things first. Clear the surface. Make the bed. Light a candle. Then step back and look again. Most rooms do not need more. They need clearer decisions.
