Dagens sokkereparasjon, reparert på akkurat rett tidspunkt! Altså perfekt til at eg berre kan følge tråden med maskesting, utan å begynne med hjelpetrådar eller noko, fordi eg er lat. Å gjere dette på tjukke ullsokkar er veldig veldig gøy, eg kan ikkje heilt forklare kvifor. Litt som fargeleggingsbøker, ser eg for meg.

Sock darn of the day, mended at just the right time! That is, perfect for just following the knit stitches with my needle using duplicate stitch without any helping threads or anything. Because I’m lazy like that. And I also really enjoy doing this on thick woolen socks. Is it menditation?

My BIG FINISH isn’t huge, but perhaps these oven mitts pack a certain punch? We have had them forever, and the other hand was patched into a flounder sometime in earlier Mendmarch history. As I darned the tip of the thumb, I wondered if I will burn through cotton threads quicker than a cotton patch, and perhaps I should’ve patched? Hmmm. Well, the choice has been made for now. It’s been a busier month for me than I had expected, but I have managed to do some mending (and posted 12), and found a lot of clothes that need fixing in the last week! Bad timing, but it only shows that mending will continue after this month. I haven’t quite been able to keep up with everyone’s posts (yet!), but am grateful to be able to dip into manageable amounts on the daily tags + @mendsandfriends feed. While my socks are on FIRE doing their textile etropy thing, this thinning cotton top is not far behind. I’m trying to patch it with t-shirt scraps and attach carefully with back stitch to avoid making any more holes. New this time around is a more lazy approach to making flowers, letting the patch show through in the middle instead of darning. It’s a different look, I might prefer it more clean

It is I, the mysterious sock of Easter, and I am here to tell you that Hanne has now discovered so many of my holey brothers at the very end of Mendmarch that she is considering a second month of sock mends (or she will make really quick work of it, I am not sure if her HEART is really in this endeavour). Well at least I have been given a third eye (and +5 wisdom) and a mouth to relate to you these important news.

Let’s call this Mendmarch day 24, since I did have a sock mend LINED UP and worked on it on Monday, but life seems to have prevented posting. I’m doing some leisurely darning with blanket stitch these days, covering worn areas, but no holes on this one. I just had to make another sock face under the foot – and a *sort of* sunset motif on the back of the heel (barely). This is part of an age-old and important tradition within mending photography involving weird posing with socks! #mendmarchlinedup #mendmarch2026 #sockdarning #visiblemending
Mendmarch update: Barely here, but a MIXED (22) post of various mends, that I can do!
1-3: going ALL OUT (21) with embroidered swirlies on top of patches on a thin t-shirt, I think it’s kind of falling apart, and has already been mended a few times, but I know @ankiborja and that it is possible to do so much more!
4: not pretty, but an experiment in glueing my trusty headphones with a flexible glue (Aquasure). They have not LET me DOWN (23) and lasted for years and years, and at some point everyone stopped having headphones with wires sticking out of them. Huh!
5–7: a CRAPSHOOT at rescuing a beheaded cat toy with ladder stitch ++ A mend that might last 2 seconds into cat play frenzy, we will see! 😆

And I did find the other sock, with a just a thin, worn patch on the heel where only the synthetic threads were left. Perfect for a blanket stitch eye, I need some figurative mends to lift my mending spirits I think!

Mendmarch 10: features a very well worn wool blanket that has been with me all my adult life. In Mendmarch 2022 I mended various sections and secured the remaining fringe, now I have DARNED a thinning area. It is beginning to look and feel like a blanket equivalent of an old teddy bear, I like it. #mendmarch2026 #mendmarchdarned #wovendarn #darning
#mendmarch2026 3 + 9: I wasn’t too ALARMED when the buttons SEVERED themselves from one of my favourite thrifted shirts (found on Bornholm actually!). I found an almost identical one in my grandmother’s button stash. I also stitched up some holes in my crazy knit swatch cardigan while keeping fairly calm (some of them were colourwork patches that had been cut and sewn on the sewing machine, clearly a weak point, but I used them anyway). Nothing much to see here, but I trust entropy will do its thing and bring me more things to mend this month! #mendmarchalarmed #mendmarchsevered
