Ok this band is insane and I’m so happy I showed up early to @hotelvegastexas and caught them.
@stopmotionorchestra is organized Zappafried chaos and it truly blew me away, as it did everyone else in the crowd that night.
I’m quite sure they’re an Austin based band, and I recognized the xylophone / vibes player from a really cool PBS @acltv@adrianmquesada special from a couple years ago. She is mind blowing as is everyone in this band.
▫️there’s nothing like a late nite show before a festival.
@hotelvegastexas is one of the few spots in Austin that remains Austiny. They persist.
I’ve been seeing / playing shows there since like 2007 and it still feels exactly the same.
Last night was incredible.
@stopmotionorchestra are truly insane (I’ll be posting a Reel later) and you just have to see what they’re doing. Precision Zappa style arrangements that leave your jaw on the Lone Star covered floor. Just exquisite stuff.
Headlining was PHILM fave @nolanpottersnightmareband Egg improv project (Reel posted earlier - check it out) - a really special show to witness in a small club. Who needs big Live Nation shows? Gimme this anytime.
Shoutout to the kids in the first few slides they were so sweet and it was homegirl’s bday. Happy bday!! And shoutout the Gizz Dead shirt dude @sgt.sog I believe he’s the one who DMd me about this show in the first place!
