"Tantra is a path to Self Realization or Self Actualization.
In the tantric texts, kundalini is conceived of as the primal power or energy. In terms of modern psychology, it can be called the unconscious in man. As we have just discussed, in Hindu mythology, kundalini corresponds with the concept of Kali. In the philosophy of Shaivism, the concept of kundalini is represented by the shivalingam, the oval-shaped stone or pillar with a snake coiled around it.
However, most commonly, kundalini is illustrated as a sleeping serpent coiled three and a half times. Of course there is no serpent residing in mooladhara, sahasrara or any other chakra, but the serpent has always been a symbol for efficient consciousness. In all the oldest mystic cults of the world you find the serpent, and if you have seen any pictures or images of Lord Shiva, you will have noticed serpents girdling his waist, neck and arms. I recently shared a post from #darkcornwall on IG and thought I'd add to that, for reference sake a bunch of documents I got a some years back from Penlee House Gallery & Museum.
Soon after inquiring into this bead many hours were spent traipsing the dunes at Hayle, in hope of stumbling across gangs of adders hissing into piles of their own spit.
Perhaps it was a fortunate thing that curiosity went elsewhere with a new stick I had found and used to mark a wavy line in the sand that stretched the length of that place between land and sea.

The alchemist realizes that he himself is the Philosopher’s Stone, and that this stone becomes like a diamond when salt and sulfur, or spirit and body are united through mercury, the link of the mind.
The human being is the embodied principle of the mind, just as the animal is of emotion. He stands with one foot in the heavens and the other on the earth.
