This was our first time shooting with Canon’s c80 cinema camera. We captured the scene in 4K with an ultra-wide aspect ratio for a cinematic look. Getting the right exposure for the room proved challenging due to the bright window behind the subject, but we maximized the camera’s potential by shooting in clog2, using its built-in ND filters and boosting the ISO (aka Gain) to it’s second base ISO of 3200. The entire camera and lens setup, weighing about 3kg, balanced perfectly on our DJI RS4 Pro gimbal. We used a DJI Transmission module to stream the video feed to an iPad, which worked seamlessly with the DJI Ronin app. Excited to show you all the end result 👌🏻 🎵Original music by @alexx.hermann

Who remembers this classic? Renegade Master has been moving dancefloors since 1995. Originally a hip-hop-inspired house anthem by Wildchild, it got a new lease on life with the 2013 remix that kept the raw energy alive. Fast forward to December 2024, we caught @darkhorse.mp3 & @thatsagrousegram dropping this classic at their last show of 2024. Some tracks never fade—this is one of them.

What’s been happening at Stomp HQ

Listen up camera nerds 🗣️ Every venue is different, and rigging up the right shot can be tough without proper planning and equipment. Here are four tips to make sure you’re prepared when setting up a stationary camera for live music: 1. Go to the venue before the event and take photos. You will be surprised by how much easier it is to plan when you have good photos of the room to look at while shopping for rigging gear. 2. Don’t cheap out on rigging equipment. You won’t necessarily find what you need on general stores like Amazon. Figure out what you need and look at specialty stores like @tecartaustralia for the best gear. 3. Use external monitors for your stationary cameras. Have someone in charge of watching multiple cameras to keep an eye on things like battery power and any recording issues. 4. Secure the cameras to avoid people tampering with your recording. Buy camera raincoats or anything that covers the buttons of your camera while recording. Put hazard tape on the floor around tripods to prevents people from bumping the camera. Rig safety cables to cameras mounted above people at all times.
