Lighting is where a kitchen truly comes to life. In our Coto de Caza project, we layered lighting intentionally, because one source is never enough! The most beautiful kitchens feel thoughtful, dimensional, and complete… and that always comes down to layering. Here’s what to keep in mind: • Add decorative sconces to create warmth and visual interest • Use lighting to frame key moments (like the hood) • Layer multiple sources so the space feels elevated, not flat Lighting is the jewelry of the home—and often the detail that makes everything else shine. Organic modern, defined. In this kitchen, organic modern means warm, natural materials paired with clean, intentional lines — nothing fussy, nothing overdone. We layered white oak cabinetry in subtle ways throughout the space, balancing softness with structure. The main countertops are durable quartz for everyday living, while marble was reserved for the peninsula to bring in movement, depth, and a touch of quiet luxury where it could truly shine. A polished plaster hood, finished with a custom white oak trim, adds sculptural warmth and anchors the room, while the white oak waterfall island introduces an unexpected detail — adding texture, visual weight, and additional hidden storage without disrupting the calm. Transformation Tuesday👀 Nothing transforms a family room like a well-planned fireplace wall. Centering the fireplace, adding custom oak shelving, integrating storage, and floating a black marble hearth created both balance and drama. Here’s what an interior designer does… we create a defined vision and with thoughtful planning and decision making, 𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 is what we can do for a space. In this family room, we tackled an off-center, awkwardly placed fireplace and transformed it into a stunning focal point. We flanked the newly centered fireplace with custom white oak open shelving backed by an elegant #philipjeffrieswallpaper and designed a striking floating black marble hearth to ground the space and give the room a fresh, elevated vibe. Because the soffit above couldn’t be removed, we wrapped it in the same white oak to create continuity and intention in the architecture. We then finished the entire fireplace wall below the soffit in a contrasting smooth plaster for a gorgeous, modern texture in order to keep the room cozy and grounded. On the right side, we kept closed storage for TV and media equipment, with the white oak cabinetry standing proud of the plaster wall…adding depth, dimension, and interest. Pretty little kids’ bath update from our #cotodecaza remodel✨ We designed this space to grow with them … neutral palette that feels timeless and works for any age or gender. The tile adds the sweetest touch with its mini cross-and-star pattern, and the pink winter peonies?
