🏳️🌈 Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
This time last year, we joined over 20 other Scottish Pride events in a joint statement seeking those in positions of power to take a step back and stop using LGBTQ+ people as political pawns.
This has not been the case.
The Scottish Parliamentary Election Manifestos from a number of political parties were actively pushing anti-trans narratives that sought to further exclude trans people from public life.
Some parties were seeking to strip Diversity, Equality and Inclusion out of the public sector which would have a detrimental impact to not only the LGBTQ+ community but all other marginalised and minority groups.
Some parties simply did not mention LGBTQ+ issues at all.
It is clear that the UK is becoming increasingly hostile to LGBTQ+ people. The UK has yet again dropped down the ILGA Rainbow Index, something which we topped only 11 years ago.
Despite all of this, we must look to the future. Scotland now has our first Trans MSP and our first Non-binary MSP elected to the Scottish Parliament. This must be celebrated and will bring voice to many LGBTQ+ issues at the heart of Scottish democracy.
It is good to see that the new Presiding Officer, Kenneth Gibson, has made it clear that he will not accept misgendering of MSPs. This simple show of respect is something we must welcome.
The new Scottish Government have also committed to a fully trans inclusive ban on Conversion Practices. This is a promise that has been broken in the past and we will continue to put pressure on the Scottish Government to deliver on this promise this time.
Things are still incredibly tough for LGBTQ+ people in Stirling, Scotland and the UK, but we must continue forward, stand up for what we believe in and make our voices heard loudly and clearly that LGBTQ+ rights matter.
Stirling Pride 2026 will take place on 29th August and we cannot wait to hear your voices then. In the meantime, if you wish to support our work please come along to one of our events and you can donate to our Crowdfunder which is in the comments below.

🕙 You have until 10pm! Make your voice heard!
🏳️🌈We are working with Active Stirling to look at offering a health walk to the LGBTQ+ community across the Stirling community. Initially we look to start the walk from The Peak to allow a safe space for us to have some social space for a tea or a coffee/soft drink and maybe some cake after.
The purpose of this survey is to find the best day/time for us to meet and the most popular will be the starting point. Moving forward, Allen from Active Stirling will look to consult with attendees to offer a more tailored approach to what opportunities the community would like to engage in, whether that be in the Peak or within some of our wider sports club network.
A health walk is just a walk that lasts around 40 mins, low intensity but is planned with set route and the likes!
We would love to hear from you! So please fill in the survey below;
