Today, like any other day for the past 35 years, I have been a mom to Christin and Gabbi.
@turkey_subb hand made my gift. She chain stitched what and who I am on a reclaimed sweater from a yard sale we went to last weekend together.
My kids see me as I see them. Wholly, transparently and without judgement. This gift reminds me that through all the chaos, celebrations, lies, promises, disappointments and triumphs of my motherhood, I have always been and am still, Carol.

Just when I thought my judging card had been revoked, I was asked to join The Luma Dream Brief Jury.
Remember why you became a creative? Remember the ideas that didn’t get approved ‘cause they were too (insert whatever reason you were given that still makes no sense)? Welp, this contest spotlights the importance of craft in advertising. It champions the brave, badass ideas that never got made. It gooses the disillusioned artist into believing in the magic of art again.
What we’re judging:
The Luma Dream Brief is an open call for creatives to submit their best unproduced ads. I, along with my Dream Brief Jury cohorts, will select our favorites, which Luma will then run as their legit ad campaign on actual media. Those ads will also be submitted to Cannes.
*If any of them win a gold Lion, their creators will split $1,000.000.00!

Holidays hit different as we move further from childhood. We get older, and the magic of the holidays fades. But this Christmas, Gabbi and I are spending it together in my new house. Just me and her. We’ve decorated the tree. We’ve wrapped the gifts and now we’re drinking red wine while watching You’ve Got Mail.
The magic is back.

I have loved my job(s) for 35 years. @barkingowl_ is the 10th company where I have had the privilege of being called a working mother.
I can’t imagine my life without my career. And I can’t imagine my career without my kids along for the ride. We grew up together. When you’re a 28-year-old mother of 2, it’s not having it all, it’s doing it all. And you’re young and dumb enough to believe you can. But before you know it, you’re a managing director at one of the most well respected companies in your industry. My emotional and creative wells are full and so is my smile.

My panel is titled -

There are very few who can move me from tears to literal spit-take laughter in the same conversation. He is my muse. He is my protector. He is my hype man. He is my truth teller. Today he turns 45. I’ve been fortunate to bask in his light for the last 10. He officiated the wedding of my daughter. Not by my suggestion but by my daughter and her now husband’s wishes. That is the impression he makes. He is magical. He is generous. He is intoxicating,(his words not mine). He is my example of what happens to a person who is provided immeasurable love, support and understanding as a child.
To know him is to love him.
