“Yet, if we have the courage to keep looking, the picture deepens. We have to ask ourselves if the God who entered so fully into human life—who healed the sick, sat with the despairing, and preached unceasing love—would truly abandon His son to the dark. The cross does not magically abolish human cruelty or mortality. Instead, it reveals a God who chooses absolute solidarity with our pain. What pours down from that place of ultimate suffering is not defeat, but an unlimited, abiding love. Even in the darkest moment, as the light fades and hope seems suspended, that spirit of love is unleashed.”
