đș The 2026 Natural Selection Brewing Project beer has officially been announced.
This yearâs Heriot-Watt brewing team are creating a Scottish Pale Ale brewed with heather, chamomile and coriander seed, inspired by Scottish folklore and storytelling.
The artwork comes from Scottish artist KMG, featuring ScĂĄthach, the legendary Celtic warrior and folklore heroine.
KMGâs work is heavily inspired by the stories and myths of Northern Scotland, exploring cultural identity, folklore, and the importance of oral storytelling traditions that risk being forgotten over time. Her murals and workshops have become well known for celebrating and reclaiming Scottish heritage through contemporary art.
Every year, four MSc Brewing & Distilling students from Heriot-Watt University take on the challenge of running their own brewery and launching an original beer with us.
The beer officially launches at their event on 11/06/26 at Leith Arches.

Our Jack Back Session IPA has officially been given the house badge treatment at Deacon Brodieâs Tavern on the Royal Mile.
Built in 1806, the pub takes its name from William Brodie, Edinburgh cabinet maker, town councillor⊠and part-time burglar.
By day, Brodie was a respected tradesman and member of the town council. By night, he was running with gamblers, criminals, and eventually his own burglary gang across Edinburghâs Old Town.
His double life famously helped inspire Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.
A proper Edinburgh story, and a very fitting badge for a Session IPA with a bit of character behind it.
đ¶đș Bobbyâs 80/-
Our Stewartâs 80/- has officially been given the house badge treatment at Greyfriars Bobbyâs Bar on Candlemaker Row.
A proper Scottish Heavy, full-bodied and smooth, with rich malt character, dried fruit notes and that classic creamy finish the styleâs known for.
The name â80/-â (80 Shilling) comes from Scotlandâs historic beer duty system, where ales were taxed based on their strength and price per barrel.
Feels right at home on the bar there, to be honest.
