There is an old man called Dave
Who loves to catch the big waves
He has a big board
Which depicts our dear Lord
It’s not painted on but engraved
16/5/26
Dropped off at the airport
‘Departures’ says the sign
Heading up to check in
Headache, too much wine
Boarding card been scanned
Luggage all dropped in
Security section next
As the body scan begins
Waiting at a minimum
Into duty free
Cigarettes and perfume
For some but not for me
Burger king or Subway?
Costa for a tea?
Full English at an Irish Bar?
Spend your Euros, nothing’s free
People reading papers
Others scanning phones
Kids and grannies snoring
Drowning out the moans
Cleaners mopping toilets
Security watch and spy
Cabin crew and pilots
Ready to take to the sky
Walking round in circles
Gate announced at ten
Time to fly back home now
I’ll be back again

Who loved to cook lovely meals

There was a young man called Rolf
Who loved playing a game of golf
He’d have a game every day
And go round in a sleigh
With his clever old deer Rudolph
