Had a great time at the Emmy FYC event for HBO’s Steve Carell show, “Rooster”. So glad I got a chance to talk with creator/showrunner Bill Lawrence and very happy that he knew who I was right away from long ago, when I played “Dr. Bobb” on “Scrubs” and diagnosed Brendan Fraser’s character with leukemia. I got older. Bill looks pretty much the same. Hmm. I’m thinkin’ Dr. Bobb needs to make a long-awaited return in the newly-renewed Scrubs reboot. Somebody needs a hematopathologist. Or… there sure could be a place for me on the college campus of “Rooster”. Would love to return to Doozer-world! Isn’t this what social media is for?? #rooster #scrubs #actorslife #characteractor @vdoozer @zachbraff

I’m so glad I got to see my lovely “Crossed” castmate, Ash Santos, at the Emmy FYC event for “Marshals” at Paramount Studios. Thanks to the talented Michelle Murphy for joining me, playing the role of “and a guest”. @ashmsantos @marshalscbs @paramount + @themichellemurphy #crossed #crossedmovie #actorslife #crossedcomic #characteractor

“Return from Tomorrow” (titled “Tim & Milly” when I shot it), a movie I did almost exactly 3 years ago, finally premiered at the Florida Film Festival this week on 4/11 and is showing again 4/14. Looking forward to seeing it myself sometime. (But I’m not going to Orlando.) When I worked, I was greeted at my dressing room trailer with balloons …and a cheesecake for my birthday. I play a German psychiatrist and my scene took place in 1939, so I got to play dress-up and do an accent. Fun trivia: The hospital set was also at a location where I did one of my doctor scenes in the movie “Amsterdam”. #returnfromtomorrow #workingactors #characteractor #actorslife #sagaftra Thanks @mormanboling casting.

Just found this promo for FOX/MLB that I shot a few weeks ago. The only place on the internet I’ve found it is on X. Looks like maybe it’ll keep airing with different dates and teams. They said it’ll air other places too. If you see it, let me know. Booked from a fast turnaround self-tape audition, no callbacks. Thanks @trueartistsagency (Alicia & Jamie) & @asgcasting !

The Poppi Super Bowl commercial turned out to be a fun, crazy party. My part in it was snipped down to a very concise appearance. Disappointed that my closeups were inevitably cut as was most of my dialogue. But I do still appear, ever-so-briefly, before my character turns into Charlie XCX, and it was a really great 2-day job. So drink Poppi!! I’m not really Charlie XCX (who has way more vibe)… or a Quantum Mechanics professor, though I did need to learn, on the fly, how to draw some of those mathematical symbols on the chalkboard. (They’re still haunting me.) And… bonus (for me)… I got to work again with Devin Druid, who I’d worked with in the movie “Crossed” for a few weeks last summer. (Don’t know when that movie will be released. Waiting.) Oh! And Adam Hull, who I used to babysit(!!), was the camera operator on the Poppi spot. Crazy! #drinkpoppi #crossed @devindruid @adam_hull @charli_xcx

I was a teenager the first time I auditioned for “A Chorus Line”. I went to all the open casting calls. I auditioned 9 times. Then, when yet another open call appeared in the trades, I phoned the casting office and left a message, telling them that they should know after seeing me 9 times what I can do, and that I would not be attending the upcoming audition. Three days later, they called and offered me a job. It was four years after I’d first auditioned. I took the photo of the mirrored name board the first time my name appeared there, thrilled to have my name among the stellar cast members. I started out as “the boy in the headband”, a very enthusiastic skinny kid. Eventually I was moved to “the line” and played Gregory Gardner. I also understudied Mike (“I Can Do That”, which was my story… watchin’ sis go pitter-pat) but only got to go on once in the role, nearly 2 years after I started. Not so skinny any more, I felt much more confident in a tank top. Those dressing room push-ups and pull-ups paid off. A few years later, when I was in “Cats”, “A Chorus Line” became the longest running show on Broadway and I got to run down the street from the Winter Garden Theater to the Shubert to appear in the gala 3,389th performance. Congrats this year to the show’s 50th anniversary! I still have my finale hat and shoes and my Greg boots. What a fantastic ride! #achorusline #achorusline50th #actorslife #broadwaymusicals #characteractor #gregorygardner #icandothat

We’re in the Hollywood Reporter! I’ll put the link to the article in my IG bio (when I figure out how to do that) ‘cause this type is teeny tiny. Had a great time working this movie that was the inspiration to have the facial hair I’ve now got. Thanks @robjabbaz for letting me bring the character “Geoff” to life. Such a good group of people! #crossedmovie #crossedcomic #horror #workingactors #characteractor #actorslife #sagaftra #horrormovies

I’ve wrapped on the movie that was the reason I hadn’t shaved in over a month. So nice to work! Feeling grateful. I got kinda used to the facial hair and decided to keep it, at least for now. It’s an interesting new look. I did go to a barbershop and got tidied up so I don’t look like something that might be seen under a bridge in a fractured fairy tale (or in L.A.). Shave and a haircut — but it wasn’t two bits. #workingactors #characteractor #actorslife #sagaftra

There were over 170 Emmy FYC events this season since March 4 — some in NYC, most in L.A. I went to 18 of them. There were several others I wanted to attend but couldn’t. Voting began this week. I watch a LOT of television and there are still dozens of shows I’ve never seen (or heard of) on the ballots. SO many shows! Let’s see if any I vote for get nominations. #emmys #fyc #awardseason #fycevent #actorslife #workingactors

New commercial for Apple! A horizontal version should be appearing somewhere. I haven’t seen it yet. They wanted me to look sort of creepy, but oy, the lighting and angles make me look almost as scary as I did when I played a ghoul in that Elvira/Mug Root Beer campaign I did many years ago. #workingactors #characteracter #commercialactor #commercials #actorslife #creepyneighbor @trueartistsagency
