Fresh off the festival circuit, please enjoy my latest short, Last Zombie. Thanks to Roland Gossage, Oscar Thomas, Ash Tsai, Steven Allerick and the entire crew who made this happen. You still can create a bit of celluloid magic with limited resources and no permits! Link: /1023713290

Some scenes stay with you. In G.I. Joe Origins: Snake Eyes, I had the honor of playing Snake Eyes’ father—returning to him as a vision in the middle of his trials. This moment is about grief, guilt, and the thing we all need to hear sometimes: “It’s not your fault.”

THE NEW KNIGHT - a new film from mixed creator @stevenallerick . Check out this new film that follows a young mixed race boy who is infatuated with Batman. He faces a racial awakening when he realizes he doesn’t look like his favorite hero. Get the video link at the top of my page. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER Steven Allerick is an actor with many credits, including Simba in Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway, Paramount’s G.I. Joe Origins: Snake Eyes as the title character’s father, and dozens of television appearances including: NBC hits The Irrational and Chicago Fire; Hallmark’s seminal television series Holidazed; and Amazon’s Sci-Fi spectacle The Expanse. His unique genetic make up - a Chinese father and a mother mixed Black, White, and Indian, both parents born and raised in Jamaica - only add to Steven’s ability to find new and different perspectives in his art. Making films - whether as an actor or filmmaker - is important to Steven as a means to unify. Empathy is the key to his art in all forms, and illuminating the triumphs, struggles, wins, and losses through the eyes of one race helps the others realize we aren’t so different, and that the color of our skin does not actually divide us. As such, he hopes everyone walks away with what is the central messages of The New Knight - that we all need to see ourselves reflected in the things that surround us in order to have belief, and that together we can be resilient in the face of the things that challenge our ability to do so. In times as divisive as these, he hopes The New Knight will be a beacon of hope for everyone young and old. #mixed #multiracial #biracial #mixedpresent #identity
